"I feel sorry for Torres seeing Jagielka, he's only just managed to get out of his pocket! He'll be sat on the pitch crying!"

Get in there, it's fully deserved. I hope the nerves don't get to him and he puts in a performance we all know he's capable of, and obviously I hope he doesn't get injured!

i would be more worried in other area's of the park with injurys at least in defence we have a few options. joey in sitting on the bench probably itching to get on but the form jags is in he would still be a big loss if injured so touch wood

"You've only got to go back one week to see how well Phil Jagielka - along with Joleon Lescott - dealt with Fernando Torres in the Everton-Liverpool derby."
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Alan Green

Jags dispossesses Torres with a crunching tackle. :)

Bet Torres scores tonight.

Don't think anyone could have done anything about that, completely exposed by the pass to Villa, midfield shouldn't have let it happen.

I didn't think it was Jags' fault, it just wasn't very nice to watch :( .

Agbonlahor looks totally out of his depth tonight.

First off , what on earth is the problem with ITV these days ?

The picture quality is terrible , and Villa's first goal which was offside wasn't even caught on camera

Not sure that Jags could have done much there , though he did get turned a little more than he might of whilst covering for what should be Terry and Coles position . Terrible pass out from defence in the first place before the goal.

When you look at the 2 teams strikers , they look worlds apart .

Why didn't he go with Young and Agga instead of Heskey ?

Can't believe Beckham is warming the sidelines up and Downing is on the pitch . That just tickles me .

Hope they fix the quality of the picture for the 2nd half , as I can hardly see who is who in white , especially at the back .

ashame to see his mistake lead to the goal, very poor pass from him but they shouldn't have been able to get through from where it went to so easily.

Hopefully that's not the last we'll see of him in an England shirt.

Not easy to break in as an England centre back and any mistake will be noted.

The poor clearence out of defence, that led to the goal, would never have been mentioned if it had not in fact led to the goal..... numerous passes go astray every game but are never mentioned!

The fact that this particular interception by the Spanish led to possibly the best striker in Europe, being able to run at Jagielka unchallanged, where was the cover for Jags if he'd challenged earlly?

I thought Jags had a pretty decent game.

His pass out wasn't great........the goal wasn't just his fault, Terry and the goalkeeper played their part!

At times we must put our Blue glasses on ;)

Up until the goal he was the highest rated England defender (and second rated in the whole team) according to the BBC's player rater. So for thirty-five minutes out of forty-five he was doing OK, and that wasn't just voted for by blues....but it was a poor pass :) .

A poor performance? He made one bad pass, the rest of the time he was good.

Good article here, and spot on IMO.
