European clubs' desire for greater autonomy could wreck World Cup | Football | The Guardian

Everton are part of the European Clubs Association (ECA).

If the club were to move away from UEFA/FIFA and into an European elite league, how would you react?

It's one way to get out of the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules..

I would welcome it to be honest. Take us away from Blatter and Platini.

As I wrote on the poll page, I don't want the groundwork for the way football will be governed to be set by Florentino Perez, Berlusconi or the Glazers any more than I do Blatter. What they have in common is that they only have their own interests at heart, not those of football in general.

I think it is for the national football federations from all confederations who are fed up with the crap at FIFA/other continental associations to make the stand, not a bunch of the richest clubs from one tiny corner of the world.

agree with this
