a little something to separate the smarts from dafts

At the risk of attention whoring and to be fair, it's been pending for a while, and maybe one or two participants can have a go as there's no soccer underway at the moment and things may be a bit 'quiet'

Simple format here. Fifteen questions, see how far you can go and try not to answer randoms and just start from the beginning and work your way up. (or down would be more appropriate)

Most of all - no goddamn cheating. It's only fair. One or two smart individuals around so put it to good use.

I haven't decided on prizes, this is still in the prototype stage or even then, it's most likely never to occur again

Enough fucking rambling, let's begin. Take it or leave it

Understand that you're an attention whore you goes around the board begging for it. I'm not a mod but whenever I come on here I try to make the place better unlike you who uses this forum as a place to promote your own.

Zoo, I'd back off quickly if I were you mate.

Because you're going to come at me like a keyboard warrior? Don't reply to my post because I couldn't give a fuck what you think or have to say. It's obvious from your posts that you have a problem with me so either stop the childish comments 24/7 or fuck off to your own forum so you can have digs at your own members.

I had positive opinions about you until you started going round the forum attacking me. I've got no problem at all with people not liking me as this is a forum and different opinions get tossed around and sometimes it kicks off. The fact is that I don't take kindly to personal attacks/snide comments, I'm not under an illusion that I'm a God around here and I only stated that Dalziel's thread should be moved the keep the forum tidy - at no point did I attack him so I really don't see the problem.

Anyway, end of discussion.

I can't imagine the amount of times that somebody on this forum creates a thread, and the first reply is always a reply that ruins the said thread, be it you doing it, Dalziel, or anybody else. If you can't be constructive, try leaving well alone. You don't have to post in 'every' thread. Just post in the ones that interest you. If a thread needs moving, the mods just do it, rightly or wrongly, so there are no points scored for highlighting anything. It just sounds like a class snitch with misconceptions of self status. It doesn't 'help' the forum as you may think, but simply irritates people, and kills a thread before it has chance to start. I think it's up to the mods when the discussion ends also, or do you have special powers added to your account we don't know of?

Thanks to everyone who participated (the text size has gone haywire but too tired to argue)

Maybe one or two are in line for a prize of some sort, but been on the go since fucking first light and couldn't possibly put things into order right now, just about dead on my feet. Incidentally, watching the last bits of this program on Challenge (if possible without constant goddamn commercials) so maybe there could be another round in the near future. I will endeavor to see who has done what and got best scores at a more 'appropriate' time. Obviously there aren't cash prizes to be had, but other 'awards' of some merit that will doubtless be appreciated to the relevant names when the time arises.

I highlighted 'Game of chess' but the correct answer is The Fire Sermon. I should have read it properly.

I had a guess at that one and chose The Fire Sermon as I liked the sound of it. I wouldn't have been there, anyway, as checked some I was unsure of after submitting my answers and wouldn't have got past £64,000 - Pan is right but I thought Pan had something to do with music so I chose Diana as she definitely had something to do with animals, though not flocks and herds.

Here are the answers while time permits itself

100 - C Bicycles

200 - A Fox

300 - D Sandie Shaw

500 - C Tucker

1000 - C Johnny Cash

2000 - A Danube

4000 - D London

8000 - A Foxglove

16000 - C Beatrix

32000 - C Bushel

64000 - B Roof Lizard

125000 - D Pan

250000 - D Mother Teresa of Calcutta

500000 - C Silurian

1000000 - D The Fire Sermon

Can't determine what was used to gain answers but no accusations made. Above all else appears no-one got all fifteen correct, but thanks for playing. Maybe another round sometime soon. This was supposed to be a test run.

Wien should be the correct answer

I'm ready (just about) to go ahead with a proper game now and (as an inducement) prizes are up for grabs, but not sure on what format to continue.

The test game seemed awkward with just presenting all the questions in one go, and a free for all, so if we were to do this properly, it really should be a one-on-one and one question at a time. That way, it will be a lot easier.

Apparently you're not even supposed to copy trivia from the official book without the publishers permission but keep it quiet and maybe it would be better to just ask questions and general knowledge bits and pieces that you could make up and are aware of answers. That could be the best way forward from here on. Any volunteers should make themselves recognized sometime soon.

I knew this was a waste of fucking time but you live and learn

At least two responses to the direct above are incorrect, but if you did the rest without need of reference that was a fine achievement.

Yes WWF does denote The (former) World Wrestling Federation, and Yes, it was held in Manchester UK (not New Hampshire) that year in question so at least the million pound trivia has been solved, but it still doesn't make for a full set of answers.

Not going to wait around for this to be finalized but good luck to any participants.
