Homework

In The Independent today there's an end of season questionnaire answered by a representative of each clubs' supporters. Here are the questions, followed by the answers given by Mark Stanford, editor of Speke from the Harbour. Copy & paste the questions and answer please. To be handed in by next Friday  .

1. Who has been your best player?

2. And the worst?

3. Who would you be glad to see the back of?

4. What was your best performance?

5. And the worst?

6. Who have been your toughest opponents?

7. Best individual faced?

8. Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

9. Your perfect, but realistic, signing in Summer?

10. Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

11. Reasons to be gloomy?

12. Overall assessment of your manager?

13. And overall assessment of team?

14. Marks out of ten?

Mark Stanford's answers....

1. Joleon Lescott...model of consistency.

2. James Beattie...the non-goalscoring striker.

3. James McFadden...one paced and rarely makes any effort.

4. The 3-0 battering of our normally spawny neighbours.

5. The last minute loss at home to Spurs...sickening.

6. Manchester United.

7. Didier Drogba is unplayable on his day.

8. The highlight of a drab 0-0 Boxing day draw against 'Boro was when somebody won a car in our pathetic "Hit the Bar" competition at half time.

9. David Nugent. A boyhood blue who'd provide attacking depth.

10. Only if we can qualify for Europe (?). We have a younger, more talented squad and best young manager outside the top three.

11. Thin squad. Specially if we have extra European demands.

12. Good progress. He's done an amazing job with relatively few resources.

13. A competitive first XI but very little depth beyond them.

14. 8.

1. Who has been your best player?

Lescott, been as solid and although he's not a left back he doesn't look out of place there.

2. And the worst?

Unfortunately got to say Beattie, although Osman hasn't been performing any way near what he used too.

3. Who would you be glad to see the back of?

There's a few but Dickie Wright is the one I'm most looking forward to of getting rid.

4. What was your best performance?

Has to be Liverpool but also the Arsenal game was one I really enjoyed :)

5. And the worst?

Got to be the Blackburn cup game :(

6. Who have been your toughest opponents?

Has to be Man United

7. Best individual faced?

Can't really think of one individual who stood out against us, but if they mean the best player on a whole then it's got to be Ronaldo.

8. Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

Two things, Mark Lawrence's ridiculous comments/jokes on motd that the other two don't get which means there's complete silence and David Pleats woeful commentating, especially on names such as "Peter Berbtov". How he's still got a job I don't know.

9. Your perfect, but realistic, signing in Summer?

I don't care who we buy as long as we get a decent left back.

10. Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

We're basically in Europe, we look like we're becoming a very good team.

11. Reasons to be gloomy?

The lack of depth after our first 11

12. Overall assessment of your manager?

Another good season of his which seems so far to have quietened his critics. Still learning so hopefully can only get better.

13. And overall assessment of team?

Great, some players have really proven themselves such as Carsley and Stubbs, who I admit I wasn't a fan off put he proved me wrong. Don't think they'll be as influential next season as still think we need to replace Carsley but after the amount of criticism I've given him I certainly had egg on my face. Other young players have come on leaps and bounds, it's certainly looking bright.

im not going to say ronaldo as weve only faced him once and he wasnt to good tbh he come of the bench and missed a 1 on 1 also in the home leg so id go with kolo toure as i thought he was solid at the emirates and outstanding at are home win. his pace and skill could make you mistake him for a stricker rather than his defensice position.

when benitez went to kick the ball and fell over :)

9. Your perfect, but realistic, signing in Summer?
Manuel Fernandes

Why would you want to get rid of neville??? He's one of our most experienced players in the team, and with us qualifying for Europe I think he's vital for us.

Nah he's not shite mate. I was a bit uneasy when we first signed him but I think Moyes pulled off a good signing when we got him. I think he scored that own goal against Manure on purpose though. I think he makes a good captain, and can play in alot of different positions which is a good thing with Europe coming up too.

According to Actim's ranking system, Lescott and Neville have been the 4th and 5th best defenders in the Premiership this year (after Finnan, Carvalho, and Ferdinand), and the 27th and 28th best overall players (all positions).

If that's shite, then I'd love to see what we could do with a couple more shite defenders :)

11. Reasons to be gloomy? not being able to compete with "the big 4"

How does Played 8 won 2 drawn 3 lost 3. Nine points won and twelve points conceded add up to not being able to compete?

Two of the three losses could easily have gone the other way also, I think we've competed with them brilliantly, which is why I think it's been an even better season than when we finished fourth with a minus goal difference and a few spankings to our name.

Er...unless you mean we can't compete with them financially, in which case good point :) .

1. Who has been your best player?

Arteta - Now a settled Premiership star

2. And the worst?

Beattie - Just hasn't worked out for him

3. Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Beattie - should still bring in a decent transfer fee

4. What was your best performance?

0-2 away win at Spurs - really set the tone of the season going for us in my opinion

5. And the worst?

Losing at home to Spurs, a low point that had fans getting on wrongly on the back of Moyes.

6. Who have been your toughest opponents?

Man U - the only team who managed to double us this season - To just swicth gears when 2-0 down against us, they are still the benchmark in the Prem.

7. Best individual faced?

Drogba - his goals where sickening at Goodison

8. Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

AJ's second goal against Liverpool to give us a 3-0 wiln - Can still see Raina's face

9. Your perfect, but realistic, signing in Summer?
Barton - Could prove to be an absolutly outstanding signing (at least it will be interesting)

10. Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?
James Vaughan - starting to look the player we where all hoping he would be.

11. Reasons to be gloomy?
Breaking in to the top 4 is a lot more difficult than it sounds

12. Overall assessment of your manager?
Has laid very solid foundations, and he is improving with every season under his belt.

13. And overall assessment of team?
This season we have taken 9 of our points from the top four teams in the Prem - So have to say we have been as competative as we have ever been in the Premiership - All season we have bounced back well from the odd defeat or two, heads have not gone down once.

14. Marks out of ten?
Has to be an 8 -

Lescott - Brilliant for a first season in the prem and playing out of position for half of it

2. And the worst?

VDM - What a waste of space

3. Who would you be glad to see the back of?

VDM - Give me a 10th of his money and I would do better for Everton

Probable one of the shite games I cant even remember

6. Who have been your toughest opponents?

8. Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

That RS supporter in the Family enclosure with the little boy jumping up and down when we scored ou 3rd

9. Your perfect, but realistic, signing in Summer?

A good consistant left midfielder/winger

10. Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

So excited about next season already, with finishing 5th & Europe

11. Reasons to be gloomy?

Potentially Moyes not getting the funds he deserves

12. Overall assessment of your manager?

Best man for the job by a mile, but still learning from mistakes which is not a bad thing

13. And overall assessment of team?

Still too small a squad, so no wonder we have been inconsistant at times think they have done as well as can be expected

14. Marks out of ten?
