Cahill gets all- clear - AAP

Posted Image

Socceroos & Everton star Tim Cahill has confirmed he will be fit for Australia's Asian Cup opener against Oman on July 8.

The 27-year-old Everton midfielder has not played since March when he fractured a metatarsal in his left foot against

Sheffield United in the English Premier League.

Cahill said he would be travelling with the Socceroos for their friendly against Singapore on June 30 but would not be

taking the field until the Socceroos' Cup campaign kicks off in Bangkok a week later.

"I've got another X-ray to go but they've given me the all clear for the Asian Cup," Cahill said. "It's feeling well.

It's just good to be back, good to be involved

I'd be really interested to watch this tournament but I doubt it will be on tv. Hopefully everything goes well with Cahill playing.

Another player kind of affiliated with our club well kinda will be playing for the Aussies in the asia cup. David Carney the kid we let go who was playing in the same youth team as Rooney has also been named, he's been looking good in the Asian Champions League and might not be too long until he's back in england although more than likely at championship standard.
Reckon Australia should win the cup although Japan are the real danger.

Cahill missed a large chunk of last season. This tournament,if he doesn't get injured
could be just what he needs to make sure he's sharp and ready for the start of
next season. He's had a good long rest so he shouldn't suffer burnout!
