tomhardyman
-----------------Howard--------------------- Neville-------Yobo*-------Lescott-----Velente Pienaar-----Carsley*-----Cahill-------Arteta -------------Johnson----Vaughan*---------- This would be my first choice with the team we have now, apart from Pienaar we are waiting on a permit. I suspect that Yobo will be replaced by Jagielka when Yobo goes off to compete for the African nations, but I fully expect Jags to be knocking on the door all season. If we get this Vogel character, he may replace Carsley- or atleast offer competition. Vaugan would be my choice striker, but he is obviously injured- so McFadden, Anichebe and Beattie will be fighting for his place.

Mac
Isn't this the whole point behind this thread, that we now have a little more flexibilty with with the signing of Jags. We can now afford to play Pip and Jags in more or less any position we see fit, and we know that they can do it, got to be a plus in my book. CraccerC
yeh...im a fan of buying versatile players, that way the fact that you have a small squad isn't so hurtful when people can fill in for oneanother
Mac
Still got a tiny squad ain't we Mike, offering Cars and £4m for Baines, I thought the aim of the game was to increase our squad. Mark reminds us often enough. ATB Mac
Blue4Ever
To play Bremen my team would be : ---------------------Howard------------------------ --Hibbert------Yobo-------Jagielka------Lescott-- ---------------------Carsley----------------------- --Arteta-----Da Silva-------Cahill------Pienaar-- ---------------------Johnson----------------------- Or This if we want 4 4 2 ---------------------Howard--------------------- Jagielka-----Yobo-----------Lescott----Valente Arteta------Da Silva-------Cahill-------Pienaar ------------Johnson---------Anichebe---------- We need a leftback so untill we get one id play Lescott where he's proved he can play class. Da Silva deserves a chance the way he's done so far. Carsley has been immense the last 5 years and should keep his place in 4-5-1 Pienaar will be like a fernandes on the wing imo but less class of course. CraccerC
oh i agree completely mac.. but you have to bear in mind his age and the fact he's a squad player. we'd be gettign a young fullback that would go straight into our team, we have the versatility to cover carsleys loss, and if we were to sign vogel wed have covered without any loss. should we not sign vogel, as i have said we have a squad to manage until we can find another, perhaps younger, alternative to add to the squad. if carsley stays he'll only probably move on or retire in a year or so, so from our point of view with our finances he's a good make weight...IMO ... altho i would like to see vogel, just to be sure
lilpyrokid951
All of this reminds me of playing FIFA 07 lol Here's my preferred team with all of the signings so far (Don't be so quick to jump down my throat. I'm fifteen and still learning!) ------------------Howard------------------ --Hibbert---Yobo---Jagielka*---Lescott--- ----------------Neville*--------------------- ----Pienaar-----------------Arteta-------- ----------------Cahill---------------------- ------Vaughan**--------Johnson---------- REMEMBER this is made up of the current squad as of whatever day it is which means I'm not taking into account any of the possible signings. *These two could be interchanged according to what's available. I also think that either of these players could easily play in any of the defensive positions as well as CDM. **Vaughan would definitely be my first choice but seeing as he's injured, I'd expect Anichebe, McFadden, Beattie and POSSIBLY Smith to fight for this spot until Vaughan returns Edited July 29, 2007 by American Evertonian

rozzie22
excellent point about da silva i havent seen any of the friendly games but understand he is playing well to be honest, the holding midfield position is one of our strongest areas. getting rid of carsley to sign baines would be a good bit of business imo if/when we sign vogel, we will have him, da silva, jags and pip available for the holding role howard jags/pip yobo lescott baines pienarr cahill vogel arteta beats/vaughan aj with hibbo, avdm,da silva, mcfadders, stubbs, nuno and victor in reserve (hopefully some of the kids like paddy boyle and lukas j will step up in carling cup games)...i think we have the makings of a very good squad. yes short of numbers, but high on quality and very flexible
collinsnator
Howard Neville© Yobo Lescott Valente (Hopefully Baines would not hold my breath though!) Arteta Jagielka Cahill ANother (Despeartely need new wide midfielder!!) Vaughan (Anichebe until fit) Johnson Bench Ruddy Stubbs Osman Anichebe Mcfadden I hope for one or two more signings to fit in there though. storm
Tough one (especially as even rubbish at PC management games!).. I would like to see a Pienaar/V.D.Meyde get on this season tho i quite fancy the following teams.. Home > 4-4-2 ------- ------------------Howard------------------------- --Jag's----Yobo----Lescott---Valente/Baines-- -------------Neville/Carsley------------------ --Arteta--------Cahill-------Pienaar-------- -------Beattie/Smith---Johnson----------- Away v Top 4 or 5(?) > 4-5-1 ------ ------------------Howard--------------------------- --Jag's----Yobo----Lescott-----Valente/Baines-- -----------------Neville/Carsley------------------- --Pienaar-------Arteta (free role)--V.D.Meyde-- --------------------Cahill-------------------------- ------------------Johnson-------------------------- I feel it would be interesting to see Arteta given a free role in the center of a 4-5-1 .. would be class to see him freely switching left/right/middle probing the opposition defences wherever the lad feels would damage them.. he's usually switched around left/right flanks anyway but with complete freedom from the middle of the park would be good to see him terrorise defenses from all over. With the speed/quality of Johnson and the standard of our midfileders i do think (currently) 4-5-1 is our strongest.. althouhg i do understand the frustrations in seeing that formation at home results are more important.. and anyways.. look at that midfield.. looks pure class entertainment to me.. (with the steel/heart to overcome any team)
Noel Edmonds
Wouldn't give a centre mid a free role, if he goes walk about it'l leave us short in the middle of the park. Out of the above formation cahills poisition is the one for a free role. I do think we'l start with that sort of 4-1-3-1-1 formation unless we get smith, with cahill starting jus off AJ like last year.

Blue4Ever
The way people have differant thoughts on where Jags + Neville will play, im sure Jagielka will be the rightback and Neville the midfielder if he plays. I just hope moyes will see sense and have just Neville or Carsley not the both of em, it proved my point against salt lake wen they both played there, we were fucking terrible.
