I think theres more rabbits to be plucked from the hat yet, and wouldnt be surprised if thats not the end of it. :)

Nothings ever that simple, especially when its done "The Everton Way". :D

As I've just seen on another forum "Everton will never be the same" after tomorrow. I just hope the club and it's supporters (that voted no) are strong enough to swallow their pride and go to Kirkby. I know I will.

Its only stating the truth as this will be a massive upheaval and all links with Goodison will be severed, indeed just to re-iterate it i echo that statement. Everton will never be the same, Not for me or many long standing Evertonians like me.

Just a bit of what will be lost..................

Built in 1892, it is one of the oldest and most historic football grounds in the world and was the first major football stadium in England and is nicknamed the Grand Old Lady. It was the first British sports ground ever to have double-decker stands on all 4 sides and the first to have a 3 tier stand. It was also the first English league ground to have undersoil heating. In 1913 it became the first English football ground to be visited by a reigning monarch, King George V.
The first covered dugouts in England were constructed at Goodison, in 1931, following Everton's visit to Pittodrie to play a friendly against Aberdeen, where such dugouts had been constructed at the behest of the Dons' trainer Donald Coleman.

^^^ Steeped in History always the first to do almost everything in football. ^^^

The ground staged 5 matches including a semi-final for the 1966 FIFA World Cup, the final for the 1894 FA Cup and the FA Cup Final replay in 1910. Everton have hosted more international matches than any other English club. It was also, in 1949, the site of England's first ever home defeat by a non-Home Nations country, namely the Republic of Ireland.
In 1973 Goodison hosted Northern Ireland's home games against Wales & England.

^^^ Do you think a stadium in Kirkby will ever be chosen to host games like this. ^^^
or concerts, open air shows, and other liesure attractions when there is another Stadium within the City.

The greatest match the stadium has ever held, according to voters at Everton's official website, was a European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich in 1985. Munich, leading at half time, were defeated by three second half Everton goals from Andy Gray, Graeme Sharp and Trevor Steven.

The pitch is one of the largest in the Premiership (or the old Football League), most pitches tending towards a de facto standard of 110 x 70 yards. Goodison Park is considerably wider, and slightly longer.

The statement was correct.......................Everton will never be the Same.

BK is either going to be remembered as being a hero for moving us to Kirkby or be known as the man who destroyed this great football club. I pray it's the former.

On a side note, whose not looking forward to the derby and all the one city one club crap?

Well as long as there isnt a "Peoples Football Club of Everton" that pops up in Walton if there is a yes vote. that would just be riddiculous we already have one 2nd team.

If it is a yes, Bye Bye City Of Liverpool.

On a side note, A scally RS fan (never goes to anfield) shouted at me when i was about to get on the train for the wigan game he Shouted "Get used to Getting the Train to Kirkby"

They wont be singing that if Yakubu's got a hatrick!
I'd rather have away fans shout all kinds of insults and piss takes,as long as they leave with
no points.

And when we play at their new place....and the final cost has soared to 500million and
their new multi-million pound squad has flopped....I'm sure our fine away fans will
come up with some fine insults of their own!

For once I'm happy for you optimism, because I feel like my world (temporarily I hope) has just ended. Much worse than if i'd been told my gf had been shagging my best mate.

I could not help but get out my "100 years of Goodison Glory" book out last night and got all misty eyed at some of the stories and photos!

I am sure the club know this, hence the dates, but did you know that Goodison was officially opened 115 years ago TODAY!!

Anyway everyone - whichever way this vote goes, please lets not end up turning this into an ongoing argument. In the light of recent events, the Everton Family needs to stay tight.

I understand your concerns, but lets face it lots of other clubs have been through ground moves and whilst I am sure we are not aware of how their moves went, they are all still going ok and simply having the usual ups and downs of supporting their teams...from Arsenal to Darlington.

The beauty of Everton has always been our togetherness tho, the "spirit of the blues" I hope we don't loose that and become comercialised & diluted like every great team has become since the premier league started!

Goldfish - I'm afraid that regardless of where we play, every Premiership team is doing that. I hate it too, but football has well and truly sold its soul and we can only try to maintain some semblence of why its special.

The one thing that is helpful is that there have been enough new grounds built to avoid some mistakes - ensuring that the ground is tight for atmosphere purposes etc.
