L_Blue
Not been happy with him this season. When he came here I was under the impression that he was a RIGHT SIDED midfielder. However on all the occasions I have seen him supposedly playing on the right he drifts infield and offers us no width on the right. Obv Mr Moyes has noticed this too since he has taken up putting him in the middle and putting (in my opinion) our best central midfielder Arteta out on the right. Is there not some way that Moyes can make him stay on the right when he is played there cos I think he is a player with some quality I just don't know how or when we can see it. What do other people reckon should we play Osman and drop him till he learns to play in the position that I thought he was bought to fill? Does anyone remember if he did this a lot at Tottenham or for Wales?
Bill
YEAH, Although i think Davies is a good player, he has'nt shown us his best yet, and at the mo its a toss up between him and ossie, always seem to look better going forward when ossies on the pitch, maybe play him up front with Beattie, He'smuch better than McFadd. imo. Nothing to wright home about. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No - I have been disappointed with him - thought that he was much better - considering that only a season ago the RS where interested in him... It might just be a settling in thing or confidence - I think that he has a lot more to offer - but not sure he will be allowed the time to prove his salt to the fans and management... heres hoping that Fozzie's early prediction is wrong, however I doubt it! RuffRob
I have thought that Davies has looked a lot better of late than the first few months at the club. But his own admission he does take a while to settle in to new surroundings . I think I have said before, that his not an out and out winger anyhow, more a right sided midfeilder. I actually think Davies is a good player, who is not yet on top of his game for Everton. He isn't a eye catching type player I will agree, but does a good job for the team. He is one player who in my opinion is suffering because of the general nervouness the team has suffered overall this season. Verdict - Not bad, but not great - more to come from him I am sure. L_Blue
Maybe.... but as I have said I am just peeved at his refusal to stay on the right hand side I understand that he isn't a winger but I would argue that Ossie who isnt even really a right midfield player does a better job of staying on the right and not wandering off

Davies isn't for me i'm afraid - I can't see how his style of play fits with the rest of the team and it showed when he was missing against Charlton. the midfield was much more organised and solid without him - nobody wandered out of position. the guy needs to be taught how to play in position and zonal mark! Ossie is a good player who perhaps doesnt get the recontion he deseveres.
Pat
Any 1 think Moyes doesnt really rate Leon? A cple of seasons back We were demanding he get his chancce for ages before he actually did. Almost reluctantly, He got it, did well...& now appears to have fallen in the pecking order. Moyes even bought a new right sided player ( hence this discussion) but yet many are to be convinced the new boy offers more than leon. Leon, gets wide, gets forward, & makes clever runs. Davies seems to get dreawn inside ( or is told to by the manager) trax back ok, & does get in to the work..but didnt we buy him 4 his so called. creative abilities, crosses & wide running...Weird..Fuzzy Logic. jamiemaher85
what do people think about simon davies prospects this season? He has looked lively in pre-season and played really well for Wales in their freindly last night. I think that we should see a real improvement from last season, even though he was blighted by injuries. thoughts?
Claire
If he stays fit and regains his confidence then I think the prospects look good. Confidence is vital though as his performances last season cant have helped. Moyes is also going to have to play him in his correct position
GoldfishMemory
I hope he does well but if his position is right mid he needs to stop drifting inside all the time, if its centre mid he needs to be more creative. Where do you play simon?
thebluenose
playing him in CM could work well for him. if he can stay on the right he might be useful there. i hope he does the buisiness because he was quite good for spurs
Ian
I was always under the impression that he was an out an out winger? When he was at spurs I thought he looked the business, comparisons to Ryan Giggs were getting made and not just because of the stupid hair and the welsh background. I thought it was a good signing by Moyes and was looking forward to seeing a pacey winger who was not scared of running at the fullbacks....I was disapointed. He did not deliver at all in his first season, I can't recall any flashes of the Simon Davies I admired whilst he was at spurs. He never looked to run at anyone, put his foot in or cross the ball. From all acounts he has had a good pre season, I hope he can start to perform the way I thought he could. I would have him on the wing IMO, he doesn't look strong enough to play in the central role, if he does play there and plays well then I will be happy to say I'm wrong. He NEEDS to improve this season or I think it will have to be curtains for curley head.
Bill
Yeah, i think he will keep Osman out of the team this season, he will improve.
Romey 1878
I was a happy fella when we bought Davies, I even got him on the back of my home shirt, so I was very disappointed when he had a shite season. I think if Moyes perseveres with him on the right it will pay off, and it also mean we can play Mikel in his best position - centre mid
Adams
I think Simon is going to hit form this season He has had a great pre season and has looked sharp and skillfull, if he gets his chance i think hes gona shine

Mac
Does our formation have the flexibility to offer Davies a "free role" or is he even capable of providing that option?. I want to see him come good, a bit of freedom may well be the key. ATB Mac
CraccerC
^ i think he should play right, if any1 has a free role i'd probably give it to cahill (i think arteta would be better at it) but restricting chaill takes away his value a lot more than it owuld arteta... Tara Mac
If you are paid a lotr of money by a club you should perform, surely that is simple?. EFC fan in oz
Still hoping that Davies comes good and as a winger not a centre mid. Much prefer to see Arteta pulling the strings in the middle of the park with Davies, Ossie or VDM out wide (not kilbane!!). He used to be quality all he needs is a good run of games to build his confidence up, just seemed to be very inconsistent last season.
