tbh i dont buy the whole "out of position" lark, at the end of the day hes still defending and still marking men isnt he?i mean look at valente in the first half,he might as well have not been on the pitch, he had arteta and yobo covering for him all the time when he wasnt to be found!

Neither do I but it was his début at a much higher level than he is used to, so to throw him into a position he isnt comfortable in is a bit unfair. I agree over Valente, he was fucking shocking, Watford could see he was our weak link and constantly attacked our left side

Good point. I havnt been overly confident in Lescott even at centre back tbh, hopefully a bit of time and he'll be fine

I thought he played well, the times he did break away he had no one to pass forward to so he had to turn back, but he worked hard and I hope he keeps it up

Davies was one of our Better Midfielders today! He had a good game and ran at players and made some very good runs! His Passing was good aswell!

How can you say he was poor! <_<

Waaaaaaaaaaahay typical Evertonians!!

I thought Davies has had one of his better games for Everton which in my eyes is better than the same old shit as last season. As for Lescott he was out of position in his first Premiership game and he didnt play poorly just not excellent.

If he was "one of our best" just underlines how ordinary we were on saturday.
At 3.5 m for me he is a disappointment when has he ever been MOM?
For a player who cost nearly twice as much as Mikel A

yes, But Arteta is completley diffrent player tyo Davies! I thought Davies was better than Cahill, and at times was better than Mikel!

I feel your being to harsh on him, he didn't play awful did he, he did his job and done it very well! A lot of things come from him.

In the market today though £3million is nothing, you pay that for Championship players now, not Premiership players

The Spud who sits next to me at work, rips it everytime Davies is mentioned.
At the moment 3.5mil was too much for him, but ask me that after Saturday when he scores against his former club.... ;)

I think Davies will start to come good this season - I wouldn't put to much on hisfirst season, he had a few shine splint problems and he is well know for being a chap that does take a while to settle.

His form for Wales has started to improve of late after having a bit of a dip last season.

I think he played well against Watford and was one of our better player. I think he will be like a new signing for us this season, after his poor form last year.

with Jonhnson's pace I think Davies will get a lot of assits, because in the Welsh team - Bellamy and Davies when playing together really link up well.

i dont think that davies has had enough time on the pitch. he isnt the kind of player that you can bring on for 20 minutes to turn games around. he's got the sill and the flair but i dont think the guys ever played a full 90 minutes since we bought him.

got this from the guardian:

"West Ham boss Alan Pardew could spend the bank holiday weekend licking egg off his face: he's been banging on about sealing a £2.5m deal for Steed Malbranque, but now Everton and Bolton have waded in. At least Everton are only offering Simon Davies, eh Pards?"
