What Makes An Everton Fan?

Recommended Posts

mindless support is no more use than brainless criticism.

youve got to be able to see the potential as well as the problems. some 'fans' focus too much on the latter.

an overdose of optimism wont do much good but neither will deliberately ignoring the promise and focusing on the downside. :)

Don't think you can judge whether an optimistic or pessimistic attitude has any bearing on your standing as a fan. I'm wildly optimistic at the start of every season but (since 1987) I've convinced myself that there's a good possiblity that we'll lose every game we play...that way when we win I'm pleasantly surprised. We all have different views on a lot of things...I think Leon Osman is pure quality but a lot of people think he's a squad player at best...I think Richard Wright is..no, hang on a minute, we all agree on him  .

And hey fishman, don't worry too much..maybe you've still got some growing in you B) !

I could write forever on this subject but i'll shorten it down.

Evertonians back their club, players & eachother 100% no matter what but are generally knowledgable & realistic about the clubs fortunes.

They are also the best lads & girls in the world to travel on coaches and trains with, damn i love away days :D

An undying love of the club is all that is needed, we could talk about who spends more on tops and season tickets, but personally I feel as long as you support the club and each other, that makes you an Evertonian.

Been an Evertonian since birth, so was my Dad and so was his Dad etc. just in the blood, guess thats what you get when your families from Liverpool. Now instead of 3pm usually up at 3am waiting for the scores and watching another boring Chelsea or Man Utd game to pass the time as our game plays out in text form on some internet site. Can't wait to get back to Goodison next year though just don't experience that kind of feeling anywhere else.

Talking in reference to the benifits of Evertons new Season Ticket / Loyalty Card.

Everton's Operating Officer Bobby Elstone says: "Everton has the benefit of intense loyalty from its supporters"

Love quotes like that they make me tingle inside  :D

Thought that too, if we're selling so many why all the advertisements?

On the other hand every little bit of marketing impacts sales in every business!

Thats right, its called the marketing mix. I fear we didnt get it quite right this year

The two week window for renewing (even before the season had finished) was ridiculous. We didnt have a good end to the season and you can see a few people being pissed off. I know we are on the lower end of the ticket price scales, but the pricing is too expensive. END OF

I think is would have been better if the renewal dates would have been extended a few week and some of the people who did not renew would have seen our signings and maybe gone for it

an Everton fan...

i think mark put it best: "Sticking by Everton through thick and thin is what makes you a proper fan, you dont turn on them when things are bad if anything you support them more fiercely." B)

i think you could add, especially when the board and the management are honestly trying hard to improve the quality of the side!
