Tara Mac
Speaking to himself about Everton in general and something he said stuck in my mind. The press and the tv seem to have a downer on Everton and all Mac ever goes on about is how biased they all are, I thought it was just him talking crap, but ive noticed over the last 5 months or so there is a sort of truth to what he says. Any opinions? T

Everton aren't a glamorous club, we dont have the over hyped, over paid prima donas playing for us. The OK and HELLO whores by enlarge are who make the back pages and are given time on MoTD wether they play well or not. I personally hate that breed of player. I'm happy to trade off less media coverage and bias for a team of players who put the team before their next big money move.
Ian
I try and stay away from the 'No one likes us sincerio' it sounds pathetic, it sounds like we feel sorry for ourselves... it sounds Millwall. I couldnt give a rat's rear end on who likes us and who doesnt, as long as me and my fellow fans get behind the team we support then thats all that matters to me Just my opinion. It's there every day in the papers, not anti Everton but anyone outside the top four. In 04/05 writers would begrudgingly admit our chance of a Champions League place but quickly point out how we had no chance of holding on to it. Pathetic to me are the Manc and Shyte fans who argue Abramovich's money is ruining 'their' league when (despite that fact the majority have never even set foot in their repective stadiums) they would take a billionaire sugar daddy without blinking. Guest fozzie22
Dunno know why we aint liked tbh, goes back a long way i would imagine..the mersey millioniares and all that shite. Plus ever told DM to say "the peoples club" should be clubbed with a stick, utter nonsense, utter spin that frankly comes back to haunt us all the time. Rob W
agreed about the media etc, but the average fan (except l'pool ofcourse) seem to have a soft spot for Everton. i live in a world where there arent that many of us (london) and when ppl find out im a blue they are intrigued and always tell me they hope Everton do well. usually they are chelsea fans so i cant return the compliment. maybe its more of an anti liverpool thing than a pro-Everton

I agree to an extent that certain clubs are favoured more by the media etc. but we've just got to get on with it. I would prefer them not to give a fuck about us then we can rub it in their faces when we achieve what they thought we never could (our 4th place finish) I agree 100% on your comments on Liverpool and Utd fans with Chelsea....they seem to forget about the fact they have been outbidding smaller teams for years...they need to get over it <_<
Mac
T and I have spoken about this many times, and the MoTD thing could come down to the simple fact that those two red b*stards have a natural bias. The media on the other hand is an odd one, our friendlies are poorly covered (if at all), little or no recognition comes our way if we play well, it is often mentioned how poor the othjer side were. I'm with Ian about not caring, it's something I have gotten used to, and as long as I have a hole in my arse I will continue to bleed blue. Londonblue
I think people above have all made good points but it also has to be acknowledged that we generally don't play entertaining football and the media will pick up on that. At times we've looked strong under Royle and Moyes, but the football was still not good to watch. There was one game (against West Ham 2-2, I think?), where we played really good football. Last seasons goal tally says it all really! <_<
Mac
Food for thought there, thanks all who replied. Had to post on spuddies, he wouldnt let me switch users otherwise id end up on sports smash. T
java2001e
i dont think that media comment about Everton has been any different than it is for other mid table sides. we havent done anything to deserve any great criticism or praise since finishing fourth, and the media were usually positive about that. thebluenose
but i remember the 3-1 win v charlton. i watched MOTD to see if i could see myself as i went. they only had a minute clip of the goals whilst manu had a 1-1 draw or summit like that and was feature game
Romey 1878
Ive noticed that all the time on MOTD, also when MOTD when they doing the goal of the season competition neither Beattie's or McFadden's against Fulham were options

Romey 1878
I felt proud when Mourinho praised Everton fans, even Alex Ferguson has said a few times how are fans are like an extra man at Goodison

big gorgeous
Joe Royle banned the press from Bellefield and didnt do any post match interviews... thats when they all started to hate us. Only recently have we been getting any real media coverage with Moyes...who seems to be making a real effort on that front
Mac
Kendall banned the press in his first stint in charge when things were going badly, Carter stuck to his guns with HK who then bought Andy Gray and the future really was blue. We still didn't get tha acclaim everyone else did, but who gives a damn, we won the league without any major stars, just legends.
