SteeleRED Posted September 24, 2006 Report Share Posted September 24, 2006 Have to admit: have only seen a few of your matches, but from what I've seen, Tim looks to have performed quite solidly for you so far. As an American, I'm intrigued by his loan spell there, and hope that good things continue to happen for him. (Well, except against LFC, of course ) At age 27, he looks to be the future of America in goal for international matches. Hahnemann (Reading's GK) is 34, but Keller's 37 and Friedel's retired. Romey 1878 Posted September 24, 2006 Report Share Posted September 24, 2006 I think he's been incredible, a perfect replacement for Martyn in my opinion. He commands his area superbly, shouts at defenders when need be and hes a great shot stopper. Im not too sure if he'll stay here permantly, i hope he does though. Howard looked world class (i know that word gets thrown about a bit too much) in his first season at ManUre. He made a few mistakes and never got back to his top form. He has had a new start at EFC and thus has had an oppurtunity to forget his past and start afresh, to an extent. I personally, would find it interesting to see how he reacts after a mistake or two has been made by him. If he has the balls, he'll come back and earn more respect from me. The best way to judge a 'keeper is after he's made a couple of howlers (although hopefully it'll NEVER happen in an Everton shirt). He's looking good at the moment, particularly impressed with his ability to hold shots hit close to his body, Martyn aside, it's not something we've been used to recently. RuffRob Posted September 26, 2006 Report Share Posted September 26, 2006 That's very true Sir Alex holds no prisoners when it comes to mistakes between the sticks. It is no accident that Man U have been through so many keepers in the last 5 years. He has a way of destroying a keepers confidence, and he has had some decent keeper in that time, with Howard as good as any. It is also no shame to be second fiddle to Van Der Sar, who I would say truly is world class on a consistent level. I don't think Tim will ever go back to Utd. I think the loan agreement rather a permeneant agreement was more down to Everton than Man U to be honest. I can see him signing permenent come next summer. In his first season at Utd he played as good as any keeper in the Prem that season, so he does have the ability. He has been excellent in goal for us in the first 6 games and I am very happy to have him, and his understanding with the defence and the defence with him will only get better with time.
