  1. One of the questions I always wonder about is this..... That Peter Lim chap offered shed loads for Liverpool....and they didn't even respond because of the NESV stuff. Now why doesn't someone from EFC go to Lim and say something like: "We know you were rejected by them, we are cheaper to buy and practically on the same footing in terms of potential and playing staff. Put your money to us, and lets prove them wrong for turning you down!?" I know it sounds like we are second choice.... but so far NO ONE has put money to us. What do you guys think?!
  2. I agree with all the comments Rodders not being worth £30m now.. I think you have to look at potential, and that is where it is fingers in the air stuff. When we sold Rooney all my Pool supporting mates were saying " he ain't worth that... not done anything.." etc etc.. How much is he worth now? United in many respects got a steal with him, although.. you couldn't guarantee whether he would or wouldn't. I think Rodwell is the same... he is such a talent, so composed, two footed, plays a number of positions, can score, pass, tackle head etc... all sounds like a normal footballer... thing is he makes it look easy!!! Will he continue to develop like Rooney, who I think is one of the best around at the moment (despite Sat) or will he got the way of Schumacher etc? Guys who were tipped and didn't do it?! Time will tell... but I agree with the comment, that if the top clubs what our top talent, they pay for it... and my thoughts are he is gonna be huge.... 14 out of 20 managers think he is the next big thing.... I would take that from the guys who know!!!!
  3. Wow... thanks Bill.... didn't realise it was that many... heres to 100 more! :-)
  4. Agree... as much as I would hate to see him leave, as he has now found some really good form, I think that Moyes is looking to boost his price. Would have to be in the region of £25m to make it worth while, considering we shelled £15m for him......
  5. Yep totally agree. Proven prem level player, on a free. Some people here want us to get squad players in... and when we do for nothing, they are not good enough.. I think he wil be a good addition. nothing barnstorming, but good.
  6. Top player......beg to differ,as previous posts have said "Jagielka made him look good" remember start of last season how badly he was exposed,it was only when Jags moved back that the ship steadied. Look at the stats for the defenders for last season regarding tackles, blocks, clearances etc and you will find he is near the bottom, his only plus was his goals. But like everyone has said he is not our concern anymore so lets move on As for "kiddy jibes" think you will find it will be a bit more heated when he returns Agree will be worse when he comes.. but seriously none of us would do differently in his position as a previous poster said.. In terms of a top player.. yeah he started last year badly, but was player of the year the year before... and if he was as crap as being made out.. this thread would not be here... would there be a thread like this for Shandy Andy? No... why... cos he WAS shite for us!
  7. Agree with the above...we need to maintain the high ground. At the end of the day, as someone already said, he is not an Evertonian, and to him, playing for us was a job. Would any of you, offered 3 times your salary for doing the same job, stay loyal to your current employer? For him it is a job... our passion is deeper, but doesn't mean he is a crap bloke. Was a top player for us, hope he is shite for them, but lets leave the kiddy jibes at home!
  8. Taylor all the way... Senderos is too mistake prone, and all the Arse fans I know are desperate to get rid. Shawcross has had one season, yes looks good, but still has some proving and for £12m, needs to be more experienced. Taylor is proven quality, Newcastle fans would hate to lose him, and he can cover two positions. Hangeland would be an excellent signing though, but def get Taylor before him.... younger, two positions and quicker.
  9. Agree... In terms of the defensive midfielders everyone agrees that we need, most will now be cup tied. Defour I would think has played, Bangra has, Moutinho (not defensive but you know...) has. So I agree with the previous post, if he comes it will be in regards to the league not Europe. Jack did will last eve.... so maybe he is cover for Europe as well.. can't play every game. With regards to the board. They have little money, we all know that. We have had to wait for the TV cash to fall, and now you will see some movement. To be honest, if we get Taylor (my fav choice of centre back), Bangra and this Bytrov fella, I will be pleased. Anything else is a bonus. Just wanna get top 5/6 again this season, and shove all the Villa/Spurs/City only comments down Skysports' throats.
  10. Agree with all of the above.. Would love Taylor here.. the guy is a cracking centreback... him and Jags would be awesome. Banega would be a v welcome addition as an out and out holding player. Bentley would be great. Not paying anywhere near the £17m Spurs paid, but he could provide the creativity we miss without Spud, and as someone said earlier, Moyes could sort out the attitude. Yes please!
  11. Linked with Arsenal the other day as well.. Big chap... seems to be fairly well rated... and has done well in the Budesliga... Could be an option.. Prefer Taylor though
  12. I agree DM.... people keep saying we have no budget, but I have not heard or seen anything to say that. We put in a bid for Naughton which was very good for a young, untried championship full back. Spurs came along and offered another Mill and better personal terms, cos they seem to have a bottomless pit and don't mind giving silly wages. I think DM is right to stick to his valuation, whether that is buying or selling. Senderos will be cover for Jags, and will be benchbound for large parts of the season when Jags and Yobo are fit... do you want to spend £6m on him? I don't... would rather do the £8m on Taylor who could push both of the others regularly.... The lack of "ins" is very frustrating and I want to see some quality added... but if the quality doesn't come cos we have bought average players at overrated prices... that would piss me off more!
  13. Have to say I would love this guy here. I was wondering why we wouldn't be interested, as he is versatile, works his nuts off and scores goals... and lets be honest, £6-8m for him is nothing. I know we are looking at defensive players alot, but with Yak coming back to fitness, Vauhgny never fully fit and Chebe's still not back, this guy could operate in about 4 different positions for us. GO GET HIM!
  14. I agree... whats the evidence of that comment? You have to look at what the player offers.. not just what you or some bloke down the pub thinks he is worth. You offered £28m for Terry - 29, bad back, one position, 2 goals a season. But very important to Chelsea for his leadership. If you examine Lescott, to us he is 27, plays two positions at international level, scores on average 8 goals a season for us, and so in short is like 2 defenders and a good midfielder in goal return. To a side like us that is priceless. If you want to buy him, you have to satisfy us that we can replace what we lose... which would effectively be 2 defenders... and someone who can get 8 goals. So I think he is def worth 22m if Hangeland is gonna cost 10 - 12 and that Naughton chap, untried in the prem was 6m...
  15. Very very nice Hafnia.... wonderfully put sir! Not much more to add to what people have said. We work with little cash, my brother is a Liverpool fan and he keeps going on about Yak and Felli.. but forgets that they were one off's the rest were freebies in those windows.... and then another poxy foreigner comes over... bit of excitement, messes up the window for everyone and has all the poor man city fans believing they deserve it. You don't. You spent alot last year, were rubbish.. and I truly hope the same happens this year. I hope Bellamy kicks up a stink for not playing, and the ego's all bugger off on holiday mid season cos it's cold and they want to be in, quite frankly, ridculous swim wear. You deserve nothing, as you have earned nothing. You play fantasy football, while clubs like us work hard, train hard, develop spirt and achieve through that....
