  1. Optimism reigns! Everton 1-1 Liverpool Chermiti
  2. Everton wins the 6-pointer! Amazingly, no-one predicted a 2-0 scoreline. Romey gained on Boston Toffee and now trails by just 2 points for the season, setting up a close finish on the final stretch.
  3. Round 32 and the game we'd all rather forget. Mike) scored 5 points, and Boston Toffee recovered to extend his lead for the season.
  4. He wasn't dropped; he was sick. Moreover, he was included in the senior England squad against Belgium.
  5. I'd prefer Trafford: younger and with enormous potential.
  6. It takes time for many to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. We expect foreign players to simply jump in, and some are able to do so, but others take time. I would expect Beto to steadily improve and, if we're patient, he could become a major asset.
  7. Just for the record, there was no sarcasm intended whatsoever. What I wrote, I meant quite literally - and thank you for recognizing that and taking it that way.
  8. I’m so glad you were very wrong. I’m sure you are, too.
  9. I'm still hoping he'll announce at the last minute that he's stepping down and his party appoints a sensible alternative. In the meantime, anticipating the flood of Trump supporters from out of state who'll come knocking on my door to canvas support, I'm ordering an 'Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president' baseball cap and an 'E. Jean Carroll for vice-president' T-shirt to wear when I greet them.
  10. Driving to Alabama yesterday to see my daughter and her family, it was shocking to see, even now, "Trump won" signs on stores, crude accusations against President Biden on trucks, people wearing shirts with Trump's mugshot in Atlanta proclaiming 'innocent', and more. Clearly, Trump and his supporters are very visible and vocal. Where have all the reasonable people gone?
  11. This round, the only person to score zero points was the season leader: Boston Toffee. This has tightened the race for the season with Romey just 3 points behind. For the month of April, three of us are tied on 7 points: MikeO, Romey, and myself.
  12. There needs to be a thorough government audit of the Premier League since it appears to be a hive of corruption, deceit, and double standards. They'll probably plead the same defense as did the NFL in the US, that they're an entertainment organization that can do as they please, but that's not how the fans see it. It's become a complete and utter farce.
  13. I can't help but feel sorry for Burnley's keeper. How must he feel after such a terrible error?
  14. It is a complete farce and fiasco. And still City get away with massive financial violations. The fact that two point deductions are applied in the same season ought to mean a legal challenge is warranted.
  15. If you remember, I suggested that Brentford would struggle when I watched them play Brighton here in Atlanta during the pre-season. It seems that assessment was correct; they are struggling. I do think they'll survive, though. Palace must be a little nervous right now. Burnley and Sheffield United must be certs for relegation at this point. Personally, I'd much rather see Forest face the drop than Luton. If only we had the same team spirit as Luton, who keep pulling rabbits out of the hat.
  16. Just like Dunlop is a tyre company. What's with the double p?
  17. For round 30, Btay and Matt Tiger both predicted the correct score and lead for the month of April. Surprisingly, not one person predicted DC-L to score. Boston Toffee scored a duck this round, meaning that Romey is gaining ground on him.
  18. So, in essence, a midfield version of Lukaku.
  19. I'm really pleased that Gomes is stepping up. Honestly, I'd written him off.
  20. Just read through all the commentary/comments in this thread. My goodness, our resident chuckle brothers were in fine voice! I'm so glad Young won us the penalty, which happened when we started playing better after timely and appropriate substitutions. Way to go Everton for a gutsy performance and to Sean Dyche for making smart decisions. Can we get out of this negative funk? Sometimes these threads make for depressing reading.
