  1. You guys are wasted in your current professions. You should be in the marriage guidance business. P&M Counseling Services.
  2. Not everyone. I see a player who wants to win, and so he should. Time will tell, but I don't see him moving any time soon.
  3. Yes, it is. The ball went through the grille on his helmet. Does that mean the helmet manufacturer is liable? At least he could retire financially secure.
  4. And here's FIFA's response. "A wonderful proposal. We have only one clarification: Line 56, third sentence. We presume an 'm' is missing in your generous gift suggestion." SB
  5. Let's see whether he plays smartley, intelligentley, convincingley, cleverley. Not a stellar signing, but not a ho-hum one either. He has the potential to do very well. Hoping he doesn't injure himself in those England games.
  6. Bit pointless discussing how much he's sell for when (i) his contract has several years left on it, and (ii) he's said nothing critical of the club, the manager, or his teammates. He's an ambitious young man. I'd be concerned if he was not.
  7. Which would you prefer: ten million in used notes from South Africa, or a promise handshake with Prince Andrew? If anyone in Britain did offer bribes, I really hope they are found out as face the consequences. At this point, the integrity of the game is at stake.
  8. So what is this story saying? That FIFA rigged a match and paid off the offended party to hush it up?
  9. Jack Warner, former FIFA vice president: "I will no longer keep secrets for them...The gloves are off". He promised an "avalanche" of revelations to come. Could become very interesting.
  10. Grrr. Can be viewed from Australia only! I hate it when national broadcasting companies do that! What purpose does it serve?
  11. Hopefully this doesn't bring back memories that are too painful. There were several memorable names on the Everton team: Kendall, Royle, Ball, Harvey, Labone, Wilson, Morrissey...
  12. Why would a referee tweet such a stupid message? http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-32993793
  13. I remember watching that Cup Final against West Brom, with Jeff Astle scoring the only goal.
  14. Later this week, we'll be attending the final concert of the season with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, performing Samson and Delilah. Earlier this evening, I purchased a bunch of tickets for next season's performances. Among them is a visit by Itzhak Perlman, which should be good.
  15. By my calculations, then, our games were broadcast 17 times. PS - Dohh. It actually says that in the table! Oh well, it keeps my brain active. PPS - How come the head honchos in broadcasting decided that Newcastle were worthy of 20 TV games? What possible logic could they be using - or are they into broadcasting horror shows?
  16. This! One of the individuals arrested last week is trying to save his own skin.
  17. You can't get away with blatant corruption forever. As someone posted at that Guardian site, he said the following just last Friday: "Why would I step down? That would mean I recognise that I did wrong.”
  18. Devonians just have a problem accepted when the Cornish win. Yes, but...
  19. One key difference was the fielding. England dropped many chances, whereas NZ seemed to make even the most difficult of catches.
  20. And CORNWALL won the county rugby championship!!!!! My cousin traveled on the bus, and I suspect it took a few days to get over the hangover!
  21. If my understanding of this article is correct, they can play against their Spanish parent team. Here's the key paragraph: "While some countries, such as England, uniformly prohibit players on loan from playing against their parent clubs, European soccer’s governing body, UEFA, has no such blanket policy. It actually prohibits clubs from including such restrictions in loan contracts." http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/22/sports/soccer/when-loaning-a-soccer-player-can-be-self-defeating.html?_r=0
  22. It wasn't so long ago that some were posting how Evans and Jones are among the worst defenders in the league. What changed? The fact that he might be available on the cheap?
  23. The Echo have issued their report cards, with Phil Jagielka gaining the highest rating. Now it's our turn. Here are my player ratings. Tim Howard: 4 Joel Robles: 6 Seamus Coleman: 5 Tony Hibbert: 6 Phil Jagielka: 8 John Stones: 7 Antolin Alcaraz: 5 Sylvain Distin: 4 Tyias Browning: 5 Leighton Baines: 6 Bryan Oviedo: 5 Luke Garbutt: 6 Brendan Galloway: 6 Muhamed Besic: 6 Darron Gibson: 5 Leon Osman: 6 James McCarthy: 7 Gareth Barry: 5 Ross Barkley: 4 Aiden McGeady: 5 Aaron Lennon: 7 Samuel Eto'o: 5 Kevin Mirallas: 5 Steven Pienaar: 4 Arouna Kone: 4 Steven Naismith: 7 Romelu Lukaku: 7 And here's the Echo's ratings: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-end-season-report-cards-9362947
  24. I hope he's this summer's big signing and suspect there's a real chance. As you say, his currency has dropped at Sevilla, there's less time left on his contract, and we're a known quantity for him. Of course, we can interpret things all ways, but, if we were looking to bring him in, the last thing we'd say in public is that it will happen - because that's undercutting your negotiation strength before even starting.
