I like to buy cars that are a year or two old and keep them forever - 200K miles at least. But, with some models, they break down much sooner than others. I spend a fortune on repairing that used car thinking I'll get a good long run out of it, then it break down again. Am I throwing good money after bad, or am I investing in the future?. You eventually get to the point where you realize all that money is a sunk cost, and you may never get it back. Despite everyone's best efforts, it just didn't work out - and it's better to sell it and buy something different. For me, it's the same with Gibson. What do you do when a talented player has such a poor injury record? While everyone wants Gibson to succeed, how likely is it that he'll have a long run without another injury? It's a tough decision to make.
