Come on Martinez, sign another McCarthy in January, inspire our other midfielders to win a game without James, do whatever it takes to stop us being dependant on the lad.
He did, and his name is Mo Besic. The two of them together will make an "incredible" partnership.

I have a solution to the problem. Apple have well over $100 billion stashed away in cash. I think they should just buy Greece - the world's first iCountry.

Here are the tables after the West Brom game. No one predicted the correct result or score, but several managed 2 points: AlbanyNYToffee, Deacs, milesey, millwallforever, mogsy, pete0, Romey, and TonkaRoost. This means it getting very close at the top of all board: for the month, the season, and average per game.
Remember: your name appears in the 'points per game' category only if you've predicted at least a third of the games this season.

Apologies for not posting an updated table. It's been a very hectic start to the year, so I took advantage of the two weeks between games. Will update the table later today.

We had a power cut today. Couldn't do anything on my lap-top, TV didn't work, didn't fancy going to golf as it was pouring down with rain. Went to the kitchen to make a coffee kettle didn't work. Chatted to the wife for a couple of hours and she seems quite a nice person.
Think I might tell this joke to the wife.
PS - followed through on that. Does anyone have a place to say for a few weeks?

He also said that we wouldn't let Jelavic go last January until we had a replacement
It's called negotiation. If you tell the world that you're willing to sell, you've just given the buyer a huge advantage in negotiations.

Monday is a holiday in the US so I'll be watching from the beginning. Can't usually get home for Monday fixtures so I'm excited to see the 3-0 pasting we are going to lay on West Brom!
It might be a holiday for you, but not for us in the South. I have a very busy work schedule tomorrow and will have to content myself with occasional visits to the BBC website to see the score.

This is the club's way of saying that we won't be bringing in a striker to replace Eto'o during the January window.

OK. I'm going to run a multidimensional regression analysis of points versus three independent variables: (i) home game versus away game; (ii) current position of each opponent in the league table; and (iii) whether or not McCarthy played. Then I'll do the same for whether Mirallas played. Let's see if the numbers really do show a dependency on these two players.

There seems to be less emotion to those who don't attend. Sort of a hobby.
Do you expect fans who live thousands of miles away to have season tickets? Is the new definition of a fan someone who attends games? Just ridiculous.

For the record I don't think we will go down but that does not mean we are not in the midst of a relegation battle
We have been shite for the first 21 games of the season and have been dumped out of both cups at the first hurdle, that is the sign of a poor side
5 of the next 6 fixtures look pretty tricky and I can't see us getting too much out of them
That would leave just 11 games to save ourselves
The last 3 games have given me hope that we are starting to turn the corner but Monday night is simply a must win game
If we are still in this predicament with 8 games to go then I think there is every chance we will go down
We need to turn it around now , starting with West Btom
You chose only negative examples. What about a team ranked third in its Europa group that finished top? Is that the sign of a poor side? How many people here, earlier in the season, stated that they'd take 17th if it meant we won the Europa league? Is that all forgotten?
It's nonsense to be talking about relegation battle with half the games played. To suggest that we have tough games ahead is also pointless: We have played each team once and we have to play them all again. Worry when the season is 80% over and we're in the bottom three. Until then, it's mid-season, with the final stages of the Europa to come.

President Obama has made up for being MIA last weekend. John Kerry visited the French to give them all, quote, "a big hug". And then they all held hands while James Taylor sang Kumbaya. How nice.
"Monseur Hollande. On behalf of the American people, maybe I can present you with this compilation of songs by your new friend, James. It will fit nicely alongside the compilation of President Obama's speeches that the Queen of England gave you last year as a Christmas present."

Man, there are some crap names in that list! Did I read that correctly - Glen Johnson?

It's as if he has major OCD... Everything has to be perfect but whilst he's trying to execute this, opposition nick the ball off him......then he jogs back.
This was very evident in the match against West Ham. Games are 95% guts and only 5% glory, something I suspect he still needs to learn. The most valuable players are not the headline makers but those who consistently put in a shift.

The most concerning statement in that article is that Barkley decides to play it safe if the crowd give him stick for taking a risk. Frankly, he should ignore the crowd.

The fact there are any restrictions at all is counter-productive. The free market works; protectionism, no matter what the form, eats away at competitiveness. The overall quality of the Premier League will drop if we keep insisting that foreign players are hurting local players. The real answer is to invest in English youth.

You seem to forget that we trashed twice a team that just trashed Bayern. (Not meaning to distract from the game, but it is half-time.)
