  1. Paddock mentions his wife's sleep walking. I used to sleep walk when I was younger. When I was 10 I remember waking up in the living room at 3 o'clock in the morning in the middle of eating a piece of jam sponge. These days, I occasionally wake up standing in the bedroom but, fortunately, never get as far as the stairs.!
  2. Only Sky could show an interview while the final match was coming to a conclusion.
  3. I think this thread is a knee jerk reaction.

Not really a joke this, but I thought it would give you a laugh. Went to the dentist today with what I thought was a loose filling. It turned out the tooth had split from the root. He removed the top bit and then had to cut out the root. Really made my day.
  5. They will get at least one penalty so we need to score at least 2 to win.
  6. We overpaid by about £12m for Lukaku. My right knee has been replaced, my left knee is knackered but even I have got a better first touch than him. Welbeck at £16m would have done a better job..
  7. According to the Telegraph this morning, Bobby said that Hibbert was 'sharp'. I read somewhere else that he was given the run-around by the Swansea winger.
  8. I swear by the whisky diet. I'm on it and I lost 2 days last week.

I was a bit disappointed in McCarthy and McGeady, the first time I have seen them. Whenever they became involved in a slick passing movement, the pace of play seemed to slow and momentum was lost. OK defensively but just didn't seem sharp enough. Maybe I am being unfair on just one viewing.

Tim Howard didn't move for their free kick, I think we need a new goalie.
  11. Matt I would never vote for Nick Clegg but if he got in at the next election because he had most votes, then I would accept it. On the other hand Baroness Ashton had a senior role in the EU and she was never elected to anywhere in her whole life, not even in her own country. Democracy as we know it may not be perfect but its a site better than what happens in many parts of the world.
  12. Matt One of the problems of being able to say 'I'm a European' or 'I'm a citizen of the world' is that the bigger the social structure, the less democratic it is. Look at the EU and China. My personal opinion is that losing democracy is too big a price to pay for losing nationality.
  13. This is probably an over simplification but Ireland boomed primarily on EU subsidies. When world economies went pear shaped, Ireland were caught in the trap of being in the Euro, just like Southern Europe. The difference being that Ireland applied the resulting austerity measures to far greater effect than Italy, Spain and (particularly) Greece. There is still a long way to go though. The currency and interest rates are the biggest problem as EU finances will always be run for/by Germany.

  15. They will get a credit rating, particularly if, as Salmond has threatened, they renege on their UK debts. Their credit rating will be a big fat zero.
  16. If the Yes vote wins then I'm glad I'm not Scottish. The thought of putting my future in the hands of Salmond and his cronies would be truly frightening.

My annual water bill is £794. As I only drink about three pints of water a year its cheaper to drink ale. (or, preferably, single malt).
  18. Have just seen the photo of the goalposts and pitch in Wally Hall Park and it doesn't look up to Premiership standard! Regarding the transport issue, I always said they shouldn't have done away with the trams.
  19. Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky Liverpool. The penalty decision was marginal. I think six out of ten ref's would have given it and four not. The goalkeeper didn't have to make a 'tackle', the Liverpool player was going nowhere. Totally the goalkeepers fault. They were raving about Balotelli but his goal wasn't much more than a tap-in. Apart from that he didn't do much. He ambles about at walking pace when the rest of the team are used to Suarez and Sturridge playing at a really fast pace. I still think he is the wrong player for them.

Young woman going into the Supermarket sees the bloke she met in the pub the previous evening and who had his wicked way with her. The bloke is stacking packs of washing powder onto the shelves. 'You lying toad' she shouted, 'you told me you were a stunt pilot'. 'No' he said, 'I told you I was a member of the Ariel display team'.

EU directive 4678/Q/7436-EU stipulates that the saying 'spending a penny' is banned from 1 January 2015. The new term to be used is 'Euronating'.
  22. I wish I was expecting to still be at Goodison in a decade from now, mind you, I am 78!!!
  23. Welcome Eddy. I played golf at Devil's Dyke. A bit blowy when the wind comes of the sea! You chose a good club and a good site. Very friendly people here.
