    Jokes thread

Went in second-hand furniture store. They had a coffee table with a label 'Van Gogh coffee table'. I asked the shopkeeper why it was called that. He said 'it's got a bit of veneer missing'.
  2. We had 14 attempts on goal to Brentford's 5. In DCL's absence we don't have anyone who can put the ball in the net. I think there is only Norwich who have scored less goals than us so far this season.
  3. Now that we are getting a bit of cold weather, it highlights the benefit of Covid masks. Doesn't half keep your nose warm.
  4. Spotted in America. In the UK, 'Booster Shot' is spelt: BOOSTCHESTERSHIRE SHOT.
  5. The young lady Raducanu who had a brilliant win in the US Open (Tennis) has been seen more in the media, wearing fancy and expensive outfits, than in the sports pages. Hasn't won anything since. Even losing to a lady who was over 100 in the rankings. Hope DCL isn't following the same path. He should be concentrating 100% on getting fit to the exclusion of everything else.
  6. If we do re-join it will, by then, have reverted to a 'common market'. The EU as it is now will no longer exist. I think your forecast of 10 years is about right.
  7. For several games now we have played a first-half as though we only had 9 men on the pitch but then play the second-half like a top six team. The fact that this has happened several times over the last couple of months means it is down to the manager. He changes formation, tactics and players at half-time, which seems to work. How does he get it so wrong for the first-half?
  8. Yes, I agree. We have, (at a push) eleven Premiership quality players in the squad. A few injuries and we have to bring in Championship quality players and that is overly generous to one or two. We desperately need a clear-out and a bit of quality brought in, particularly in midfield.
  9. You say that the harsh reality is that the club just isn't going anywhere. Haven't you read about Bramley Moor Docks?
  10. Following the Saudi takeover of Newcastle, rumour going round that the Taliban are taking over Millwall.
  11. I deliberately didn't post earlier as I wanted to think about all the issues and post a considered and carefully thought out review. 'We were absolutely bloody crap and the players and manager should be ashamed of themselves.'
  12. My thinking was, in the context of 'Everton that', we get a good transfer fee for DCL and fall back on Rodney (Rondon?)
  13. When DCL was injured, it didn't seem that serious. Questions have been 'why is it taking so long?' Article in Telegraph Sport today says he will be out until January (when the new transfer season starts) and also discusses a possible transfer and lists clubs (Arsenal being one) who are interested. Clubs often find ways of not playing players who are maybe up for transfer. Just saying.
  14. In the paper today, Pickford is complaining that he was fouled prior to giving the corner away.
  15. Just to prove I can post on the right thread! (Occasionally) Me and her indoors had our 'booster' jab today. Have had my flu jab so hope I will get through the winter months OK.
  16. Yes Palfy, I clearly remember those days. fortunately, I was in work and still difficult enough with, as you say, big mortgage and high interest rates. Certainly wouldn't have wanted to be unemployed at the same time. You did well to come through it.
  17. Moving house AND changing jobs, now that's pressure. Hope it all goes smoothly Mark 'Jazz'.

Statisticians have calculated that by 2035 one in three adults in England will have managed Watford.

Small ruckus in our local supermarket over loo rolls. One guy had to go to A&E with a soft tissue injury.
  20. I struggle to swallow my tablets - and they are a lot smaller than Moses tablets.
  21. Matt Well done. That's great news. Hope all the good vibes continue. Johnh
  22. I can sympathise. I was a vibrant and healthy male and then as soon as I turned 70, things started to go wrong. Apart from the odd football injury and occasional cold, I had never been 'ill'. I had only ever been in hospital once, when I was 8 years old (got knocked down) but since 70 I have been in several times. Still, I had a good run so can't complain.
  23. Google the word woe and check what the Oxford dictionary definition is.
