We had a local council election yesterday in Cricklade after the death of a local conservative councillor, who had been a local councillor in Cricklade for over 40 years.
I was expecting him to be replaced by another councillor from the Tories, because I live in a massive Tory constituency, and because maybe a show of solidarity to the passing councillor, but none of it the LibDem’s polled just over 70% of the votes and absolutely romped it.

Me and the missus both voted LibDem as a compromise with her being a Tory and myself being Labour, we also found out that we are no longer North Wiltshire but now South Cotswolds, not sure what difference that will make to our lives, probably just another £500.00 on our council tax.

Palfy in the Cotswolds Set? He'll be too grand for us soon.

Hard for me to see how a company with interest and money in quite a few other football clubs would be allowed to take over EFC.

For example. What if two clubs they (777) own ends up meeting eachother in Europe League or the like? I'm sure there are some written paragrafs and laws concerning that. I just see too many conflicts in that.

I surely hope for another bidder we can actually live with in the longer run.

    777 ... sounds like a bloody casino.

    Or a Boeing aircraft.

I'm finding it very hard to get excited or even engaged by football of any sort this season, so I'll just stay on the subs bench pulling the occasional chain for now.

    Would I sack him? No.

Spot on Mike. I also feel the same engaging with f1.

  4. Despite what Dyche and players have said in interviews they look totally lacking in confidence probably due to lack of goals and a winning streak plus points deduction issues. When they have the ball they can't use it for a meaningful attack and shooting is weak. At least we are saved from the RS next week.

Yes, that was a great game indeed, thank you, Matt. Saw it back then with my younger brother who is (sorry 'bout that hehe) a Man. United fan.

Speaking of classics; first time I ever saw Everton play live on tele, black and white, of course, was us beating The Shite away 0-2 in 1970. Just thought at the age of six they were cool, and maybe because my bike was of the brand Everton 😁

Sev , we don't choose our siblings!!

How does this add up? Villa lost £119m last season it says, and had a tiny £300,000 profit the year before. Looking at their numbers for 20/21 they had a £37m loss...so a total of loss around £156m over the three year period but Villa say they're, "in line with the strategic business plan" and within the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules. Eh?

    Also, they aren't Everton.

  7. We haven't had the money to spend so I think Thelwell has made the best with what he had. Desperately need a proven goal scorer but DCL is not at the party right now (personally hope he has a moment and can kick on). We haven't managed to get points from opponents that we probably should have so time is running out especially with another points deduction hanging in the balance. Can only hope that the likes of Doucs, Branthwaite, Harrison can chip in as well as DCL and Beto.
