Well hopefully. We really need to lose this “if he wins this or loses this” mentality which is telling us whether or not he should be sacked. He’s 100% not the right guy for the job whether or not he beats Leicester or Liverpool. It’s this thought process which holds us back. Looking at arsenal from the outside, emery wasn’t the right guy. Progress wasn’t being made. Yes you can pick up the odd win but that shouldn’t distort the overall picture. People say Silva has been unlucky but he’s managed to win those games that were must win games to avoid a crisis. Those wins every now and again just before crisis point has kept him in the job longer than he should be.

Suits. Also......”director of football at a club that plays crap football, can’t do no wrong, getting paid loads, has a season to identify a right back and gets a Monaco reject, who can’t defend, gets no centre half, buys some kid who’s hardly played pro football to lead a premier league team line, buys a crock from city who even when he does play is always 80%, but really carries himself well” so let’s just say he’s quality anyway and hope the next managers amazing to cover up this guys fraudulent perception

Marcel “buy crap players, Silva gets slaughtered (rightly - I’m his worst fan), let Silva take all the blame, then let moshiri take the blame for not sacking him, have zero to do with any names getting mentioned in replacing him, wear nice hits. Say f all to the press, buy iwobi for 40 mill, whack in a cheeky bid for zaha” brands.

Strong rumours it will be Moyes. He was also interviewed prior to allardyces appointment so it’s certainly on their minds. Moyes as interim with a chance to go perm....

He looks a slight improvement on Coleman but he just doesn't seem to have the pace required for me to be a top premier league full back. Sometimes he dwells a bit on the ball too but maybe that will improve in time. I'm not convinced that he was the first choice RB we were after in the summer.

Could you imagine another premier league club going for Silva as manager? Can you imagine a team challenging for the top 6 even considering him? That’s how bad our manager is....has a dreadful resume in England.

surely no one wants to continue to watch this drivel? If I read another “needs more time” comment......
So boring, so predictable and I’m sure we love the ball the slowest in the premier league. We are the easiest team to play against. He should be sacked for how embarrassing we are on set pieces alone. Throw into that an attacking threat which is less than what big Sam served up and you have the worst combination of all the past few managers.

I agree Pete. For all the people who say give him time and things don’t happen quickly, do you think if we’d have appointed Brendan Rodgers instead of Silva, we would be where we are now? I think we’d be a major threat to the big teams. A proven manager used to winning. Not losing, like our guy...
Even pelligrini would have been a better appointment.

Of course there are success stories but there are also many other cases where it goes tits up, or like us, not much changes. The key is getting the right manager, and the question is whether there is a better manager doing the rounds that we can get.
It was a no brainer for Liverpool with Klopp. He was always a top level manager who had been to a CL final. Even he struggled for a while and fans were calling for his head at one point to but they stuck with him and with the right players they have come good.
He joined in October 2015 but finished 8th. They then only finished 4th the next season. 4th again the following season too albeit with a CL final.
I'm not saying Silva is the next Klopp but it is food for thought.

    Take that as none then?
If Gana was here the only difference would be we'd have conceded more.
Signs were there even in our good spell. Any team that put up a fight got a result. In general the chances we create are poor and few and fair between with a couple of lacklustre performances from the opposition making us flatter to deceive. Everything is down the wing and Gylfi is mostly anonymous and we're easily exploited down our wings and Keane well being Keane.
We've had 9 goals put past us by bottom half teams yet people are moaning about the young strikers who've been given next to nothing service wise. No other manager has ever had such an easy ride as Silva, crazy considering he's not even got a reputation to point to or showed any signs of note to explain why he's still in a job. His subs make Walter Smith look like a tactical genius.

I have no pleasure in saying I told you so. This fella is dreadful. Someone needs to tell him that the object of the game is to score and not just get it to the full backs and cross it.
If that was the object of the game, wed be top by about 50 points. Worst pattern of play ever. It doesnt matter what system or personnel you play. Under SIlva, it will always be dreadful. Easy to play against, so predictable and how boring.....................

There's an obvious difference between away and home results but I think our home results are masking the performances. It's not like we've been fantastic at home The two sides we've beaten are currently the two bottom sides in the league and they could have easily been a draw.
I don't think it helps that when we go a goal down or when it's tough out there, you look to your manager on the bench and all you see is Silva looking completely dejected. He should be rallying them all together and instructing off his feet. His body language is awful and that has to reflect on the players. No wonder the team has no fight when we go behind....

I would really love to agree with you Mike and Steve but I just don't see it. We weren't even good against Wolves. We scraped that win and Watford. We have had a dreadful start and I haven't been impressed with us in any game. We knew we were losing Gana in January and Zouma was always on loan and unlikely to be signed given Chelsea's situation. What did we do about it? I just don't like the pattern of play. Personnel is one thing but I have no idea how we are trying to score?
Slow build up play, passing it across the midfield before it eventually ends up with one of our full backs and they try to get a cross in. It's easy to play against when teams are fit and compact. Why do you think Digne has so many chances created, assists etc....he can put in a decent delivery but Coleman can't. If the opposing team can attack Digne and try and make him weary of getting forward (Traore) or just get closer to him and block as many crosses as they can (against Bournemouth) then it stops 70% of our goal threat. When was the last time we put someone through for a one on one through speed of passing, dragging people out of position, etc. The only time we ever get an opportunity like this is when the opposing defence give it away a la DCL the other day when the pass was just over run.
    Its boring and predictable.

I agree with all the above. Always asking for the ball and always looking to do something positive with it. He's more direct than I thought. I like his attitude and hopefully he can spark some life into our attacking play. Good to see him get off the mark too as I'm sure he's been asked to score more goals than he was doing at Arsenal. Deserved his goal tonight.

There's always an excuse with DCL. I dont wanna just slate the lad. As I said, it's not his fault, he tries hard. Unfortunately, people need to raise their expectations of what is required to break into the top 6.
Who helps DCL? If you go on the other threads on this forum, people rave about how good Bernard is and how Richarlison has doubled his value since joining us. (he hasnt by the way).
Also, I didnt see anyone complaining when we bought Gomes so clearly there are other players in the team who everyone rates. So basically, those players.
I know one thing, he can help himself by scoring from 6 yards out with a half empty net. Phil McNulty couldnt have put it any better in his tweet. He never looks like scoring, yet there are people who still want him in the team. He's not even good to have on the bench as he hasnt got a goal in him. Usually the bare requirement as a substitute striker.
The only thing which matters is results....we need to score more than the opposition. We have too many players who dont score goals. We have scored one goal in three games and had 6 shots on target. DCL isn't a scapegoat, he's just in the key position where goals are required. Trust me, I could wax lyrical about the two who started alongside him on Saturday but my fingers are getting tired....

Hard to pick mom there. Probably iwobi.
some serious questions will be asked of Silva now. One deflected goal in three games against poor opposition. The build up play is so slow it’s easy to play against. They just put men behind the ball and we don’t have the players to break them down. Sig, Gomes and schneiderlin midfield trio of zero pace and two crabs. Like Martinez all over again. What on earth do they do in training?

I’d like to see a midfield three of Delph, Gomes and gbamin when fully fit. This would give Gomes more scope to venture forward and use our full backs and iwobi/Richarlison for width. It’s a narrow midfield not too dissimilar to Liverpool.
We would have to make up for sigurdssons goals elsewhere but surely we are all now wondering what we would be like in an orthodox 4-3-3 without him???
would the team be better balanced? More importantly, I just want a change from this 4-2-3-1 we seem to have been playing for too long.....

Zaha definitely would. He scores goals. He’s not lethal but he knows where the net is. I’ve just checked he scored 10 league goals last year. That’s 9 more than Bernard. I haven’t seen moise kean play so I can’t comment but from what I understand his fundamental role in the team is to score.
Digne will score 3 or 4, centre halves the same, Coleman maybe 1. Gomes 1 or 2, Bernard 1 or 2, DCL maybe 10 if were being optimistic. That leaves Richarlison, Walcott, Delph and sig to bang in about 50 goals in between them for us to score over 70 goals in a season. That’s what we have right now. Surely adding kean and Zaha adds more goals????

I think we have to remember this is Marcos highest profile job with better players/ bigger egos etc and he is learning aswell. I was his biggest critic but the players are playing for him and that’s five clean sheets out of six against teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal
