sacitunal reacted to Hafnia in Huddersfield (Away) Tuesday 29th January
I thought it was fookin awful. We won't have the luxury of playing teams that poor too often.
A few things stood out.... digne can look amazing as we all know but he clearly lacks positional sense and Baines playing for just over a half showed the level he really needs to push for. Digne is very good on the ball... he's just a bit daft.
Tom Davies work rate and press was clearly an instruction to replace Gana and the kid did fine. Loads of determination. Pity his team mates don't match it.
Gomes.... not the answer. Sorry. Flatters to deceive. I don't think I've actually seen him do anything productive... lovely looking lad, elegant and all that...but im not seeing anything that his early promise suggested. Playing within himself.
Pickford.... I'm the first to criticise him but two of his saves were world class. I have my doubts about him but he remains a good shot stopper on his day.
Richarlison... just seems to have more in the tank than What he's giving.
Finak thought....Play tosun and DCL upfront together. We have no prescence up front.

Im not sure why Cenk has dropped so far off the radar.
Personally I like him. Im not sure where the obsession with pace has come from - we have lots of that elsewhere in the squad. Hes at least as fast as Harry Kane...
He works hard, good finisher, offers an aerial threat, holds the ball up...
He's been here 5 minutes and been messed around since day 1. Give him a chance!

sacitunal reacted to Bailey in Leicester City (Home) Tuesday January 1st
Leicester got lucky. We gifted them a goal, lets not carried away FFS.
He has tried 5 at the back, probably due to the schedule and injuries to but it hasnt worked. His preferred formation is clearly 4-2-3-1.
Davies was coming on to go like for like with Gomes because Gomes was flagging and probably carrying a knock and he had just been booked. We werent as in control as we were in the first half but we were the most likely to score at that point so it was a case of being patient and keep probing. When we conceded that plan changed and he probably did what most people on here wanted by taking off a midfielder and bringing on an attacker. Personally I would have stuck with Davies and switched DCL and Walcott for Tosun and Bernard, bringing Niasse into the piece later in the game (if he was on the bench).
We havent looked the same team, I agree. It was a big loss which took a lot out of the players and since then the games have come thick and fast with no time to regroup. Changing formations clearly hasnt helped but we dont have a back up for Gana so I can see why he went that way, even if I dont agree with it.
The defence has looked solid IMO. They created almost no chances at 0-0 today, Brighton didnt do much, Burnley had a couple but again, they certainly arent leaky.
Some fans just need to get a grip of themselves a little, stop panicking and take a deep breath. Talk of selling Pickford, not trying to sign Gomes is God knows what else you come up with next is just madness.

Loving the effort so far, especially from Tosun. Looks like he's playing with a chip on his shoulder, I like it

I just don’t understand the stick he gets- he’s not Messi or Ronaldo yet he’s expected to perform like them. He’s a good solid hard working player who plays for the team, gives his all, creates chances and chips inwith his fair share of goals.

I don’t think so. He’s a great finisher. He’s fired between the legs of the keeper

Superb that. Marco Silva football is such a breath of fresh air after the past few seasons of pure shite. Even though they had some chances in the first half I thought we did alright and looked like the "home" team which couldn't be said last season under Allardyce.
Jordan Pickford though, an absolute beast. More than happy to make Sunderland the capital of the country in his honour, class save for the penalty which changed the game and swung things in our favour. A few big stops in open play too which kept us on top, that touch onto the bar in the first-half springing to mind.
So good to have Seamus back, yes Kenny has done well but when Coleman's on form he's electric. I thought Theo didn't offer him much and had a really poor game but in defence we were solid on the right, as was the left with Digne.
Zouma and Keane bossed it. Kurt looks clumsy as hell IMO but he gets the job done so it suits me just fine. Great to see that Michael Keane has turned into a footballer too after looking like a rabbit in the headlights alongside Ashley Williams, he was unlucky not to have scored too - let's just forget about the brainfart in the first half.
Top debut from Andre Gomes, unlucky to be thrown into the Barcelona machine when Xavi and Iniesta were departing but if he can capture his form from Valencia will be a fantastic addition.
Gueye alongside was brilliant. Some tackles rather close to the knuckle but against teams like Palace that's exactly what's needed, no nonsense stuff. Just a shame pineapple-ballbag Zaha couldn't be on the end of a bone cruncher as he's turned into a right melt.
Bernard had a really bad game - one to forget. Richarlison did OK, a couple of poor decisions in the final third but by no means terrible, a shame he couldn't have put himself on the scoresheet.
MOTM? Marco Silva. Inspired, positive substitutions at the right time which flipped the game in our favour. Lookman comes on, bags and assist to Calvert-Lewin. Tosun comes on and bags the winner, three subs bringing home three points. Obrigada Marco 🇵🇹.

If someone threw a flare at my family I'd be after them too. So while he deserved the red card, I don't blame him in the slightest.

Same thinking here. Loves a header and constrantly annoying the shit out of the defenders. Opposition will hate, and if he keeps scoring we'll have a new cult hero.

Reminds me of Tim Cahill in the air.
I think he will be a great player for us especially if we can get some talent in midfield in the Summer.

Would be nice to link him up with a player he knows well. Can’t wait till he hits his first hat trick for us!

I think as long as we have some possession and don't hoof balls up to him all the time, he'll be fine. His hold-up and link-up play have both looked great the past couple matches. It doesn't seem like he needs great crossing as much as he just needs to not be isolated constantly.
