  1. He was fucking awesome, and he is a big lad too.
  2. You could look at it that way I guess. He is not a flair wing back, just a solid (dependable?) old fashioned right back so will never win over the majority of fans...but yeah it does show how bad we are playing.
  3. It is kind of good to see in a way, because they genuinely believe those kind of actions do any good. This is a great because no one needs to point out to them what a complete f**k up they are as an outfit, it is all publicly evident for everyone to see.
  4. Agree with this. Out of a badly performing team, Hibbert is one of the only players to remain playing well.
  5. So my only point on this topic ... I f**king hate BU. They are everything I hate about pressure groups. Other thing, and I hate to get personal, I loathe the high horse that people like Hafnia (feel free to complain to the mods) jump on when stupid stunts like this are performed by this extremely badly run group. That is all. (Romey's last sentence above sums it up nicely for me.)
  6. He isn't fit now, but there was no reports of an injury for the game against Bolton.
  7. Nope, Barkley didn't make the bench, but McFadden did. *Sigh*
  8. Barkley and Osman are injured.
  9. 6 weeks out http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2012/01/06/jags-faces-injury-lay-off
  10. http://www.sampdoria.it/squadra/rosa-2011-2012/mustafi-shkodran.html
  11. Flat tyres. Why do they always appear when you are in a hurry.
  12. Hope he does get a game. Never seen Shane play so will be good to see how he plays on Saturday. I think from all accounts Shane is on the books for the long term, otherwise we wouldn't have let Mustafi go.
  13. Wow, sounds like a bad back you've got there. Hopefully it doesn't get to the point I need morphine, but I do have a scan in a couple of weeks. I did mine weightlifting (deadlifts) about 2 years ago, but recently it seems to go with the slightest thing, like picking up my sons toys off the floor. Weird thing is I can run all day long on it, just not sit down comfortably. On a thread related note, postman gave me a parcel this afternoon and said "there ya go chief" lol
  14. Glass backs - felt mine shatter a little this morning in the gym. Now on strong painkillers the day before excessive drinking and partying.
  15. Sounds as though Kendall has been reading my posts...or am I the same person
  16. If we all agreed life would be very dull. Every team has their favourite players (I would define favourite as being players that form the core of a team rather than the manager's drinking buddies), even other team managers do...so I don't see why we should be any different. Hasn't Neil Warnock signed Paddy Kenny three times for three different clubs? What games do you think 'suit Barkley'? I think every game suits him and as a fan I want our brightest prospect since Rooney to be playing every game, but I don't think we have the team (or form/confidence) to allow that in its present state. I firmly believe that our views as fans are so 1 dimensional because we don't know what goes on behind closed doors, we have to have some faith in the management and in particular Moyes. What if Barkley is showing the signs of becoming another Michael Johnson (remember him?) - now I am not saying he is but we have to be reasonable in our opinions, which are always voiced more passionately when the team isn't performing. In fact, only a week or so ago I said on here that I am losing faith in Moyes generally and that still stands, but on this particular issue I don't think there is such a big issue (again, IMO). Barkley will get his chances and he will take them, I hope he bags a goal and celebrates in front of me in the Gwladys Street end, then he can run over to Moyes and show him the name on the back of his shirt. The one immediate thing Moyes needs to do is drop Saha...drop him off at the airport to go back to France. He is getting that very wrong, very very wrong right now.
  17. I think Moyes is handling this situation well. Our whole team is low on confidence and generally not playing well, everyone can see that. Now should he throw someone who is clearly not mature mentally (physically he is mature) to go and save the team and turn it around? IMO no he shouldn't. That type of pressure would 'devastate' Barkley if he has a bad game and we lose. Cahill and Neville, for example, can handle that sort of pressure as they are experienced players. The team generally needs to be on the up and playing with better confidence before integrating Barkley back in to it. It is the same reason Vellios is not featuring much recently, he seemed to feel the pressure of our poor performances too. Barkley went in to the youth cup and he did have a very good game, probably because he didn't feel as much pressure as he would playing right now in the 1st team. Rooney was more mentally mature, although a loose cannon at times, than Barkley at the age of 17. You could see why he was playing every week in a poor performing team. One other point, look back at the QPR footage. Barkley had a great debut but his enthusiasm means he takes a lot of long range shots, may be that is something we could do with (shots at goal!) but it also means conceding a lot of possession. Just a thought.
  18. Another one...why is abbreviated such a long word given its meaning?
  19. Balls, there goes my prediction. I'll swap McAleney for Barkley then - providing he is in the squad.
  20. Anyone know if Barkley is in the squad for tonight? I'm going for a 2-1 win to us. Swansea to score first within 25 minutes (their big centre back), followed by Drenthe, and McAleney to pinch a winner on 88 minutes. Attendance: 29,500. Fingers crossed Osman and Cahill are benched.
  21. Yeah, sounds like that to me. Bit annoying really. Even if we have to sell then don't demoralise a team and fan base further by speaking openly about it in public; a team that is already low on morale.
  22. Very true. Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
