  1. Yeah, Shane's starting. Team here: Mucha, Browning, Touray, Rodwell, Duffy, Jagielka, McFadden, Barkley, Anichebe, Osman, Coleman. Bench: (bench): Adam Davies, Joao Silva, Eric Dier, Conor McAleny, Francisco Junior.
  2. Sadly, I'm without Sky so I won't see this. Regular updates would be much appreciated!
  3. Roy Keane complained of that recently in an interview in the Sunday Times. One game he was lucky to have a sympathetic steward and the second time he was refused. He offered to buy a season ticket and the lady had him escorted out by security. Naturally Keane commanded the security guys to "get your hands off" and stormed off.
  4. If Moyes goes ahead with Hibbert at centre back..... I'll be very disappointed. I'm trying to work out the rationale. City tend to keep it on the ground, so Shane's defensive headers are not as necessary. Would Hibbert be considered quite quick? Quick enough to deal with the likes of Aguero et al ? Then again, if Everton sit back, you'd think a goal might come from a set piece. In which case, Shane's aerial prowess would be very valuable.
  5. Moyes said that Distin won't be ready for this game, even though he's been training all week. Looks probable that Shane will continue with Heitinga.
  6. I actually thought the game was quite even for the most part. Mid way through the second half, Blackburn began to dominate. Again, a few chances were wasted. I thought Donovan was below his usual high standards today (tiredness?). Would have been delighted had Shane's header crept in (it's coming!). Howard was a bit of a joke for the goal, just what was he doing out there, let your defenders head it.
  7. You're probably right, there Louis. Didn't consider that.
  8. That could be a mistake. Could it be that he was signed at 16 from an amateur Irish club?
  9. Oh I'm not too into it and I wouldn't absolve Shane of responsibility if I thought he was at fault. I watched the replay over and over this morning following having read comments that Shane should have done better for the goal and that it was his fault. But this is football. Mistakes are to be expected - I remember describing Richard Dunne as "Dunne-key" in his early days for example, but he's proven himself to be one of the best defenders Ireland has ever had, not to mention one of the best in the Premier League.
  10. Two men - Fellaini and Heitinga - failed to deal with the initial ball and Shane had to awkwardly try and deal with it as he saw it late. It was just unfortunate that he happened to have left Bent in doing so and Phil Neville was unable to get across in time. Essentially, there appears to have been a mix up between Fellaini and Heitinga whereby the two men were on one man, attacking the ball). Recipe for disaster.
  11. Here, I haven't even voted yet! Ok now I have, but it's inconsequential. Donovan runs away with it. He was brilliant.
  12. Mark, I thought Gibson was solid off the ball. Put in some great tackles yesterday and his positioning was surprisingly good. Thought he'd be playing a more attacking role but he did well.
  13. I wouldn't say Shane was necessarily at fault for the goal. If you look at it again you'll see the defence in general was a bit of a shambles. Shane saw the ball late as Fellaini and Heitinga looked to be getting it and he made an attempt to clear it. It was a series of unfortunate events for the defence. Bent lost him a few times but his efforts were tame enough. Other than that he was quite good. Seeing as it's a team game, we have to also consider that the forwards didn't do enough to take chances in the first half. Cahill dealt with Gibson's tremendous through ball very poorly for example. Thought he could have taken it down and shot rather than attempting to shoot first time.
  14. Everton were by far the better team in the first half. Should have taken some chances then. Was cringing when Vic went down, hoped it wasn't bad and thankfully he walked away from it. Thought Darron and Shane did quite well on the debuts, considering. The atmosphere there seemed grim.
