  1. The apology should have come a long time ago - koeman's behavior was abysmal. Now it should be both an apology and admitting he was wrong (and, yes, one swallow does not make a summer, etc). Nevertheless, I don't see it coming - koeman strikes me as too arrogant to do so
  2. I just think the topic heading is misleading - there's no debate, he's sh*t....
  3. oh dear, let the idiotic transfer rumours begin......
  4. 3-0 to them. we still have zero creativity up front; they have goal-scorers all over the place. any better result than that and it will probably have been a very good performance from us.
  5. if anyone still wants that fcking tw*t after getting a taste of him at his psychotic best yesterday, good luck.....
  6. ok, so everything posted here pretty much confirms the general feeling that's starting to emerge here. can only hope it turns out better than current expectations. tenaciousj and ftaylor, I still reckon cape town is gonna be an amazing place to be during the tournament, so wouldn't be put off by the negativity.
  7. Hey all, starting to really get worried we may host the first damp squib world cup ever. Does ANYONE know ANYONE who's coming over? From the few people I've spoken to in the UK it seems as though there are going to be very few visitors. I think for South Africans who tend to follow the Premier League very closely, many were looking forward to a ton of English fans coming over like they do for the cricketers and Lions, but it seems the figure could be no more than 20,000 - apparently the price of flights has put a lot of people off. Also a lot of Aussies and a few Yanks on this forum - should we be expecting many of your compatriots?
  8. don't agree -- I will be VERY surprised if we don't see him at Newcastle within a few weeks -- will give him time to get into the swing of things in time for their return to the prem next season.
  9. doubt it's a scam but flippin' hell if the website is anything to go by it could be pretty shite! there will be plenty of ordinary accomodation available with tons of people renting out their homes here (me included!) so don't think accommodation will be a massive issue. important to know that for those of you who do come down is that joburg and pretoria really are shitty places to be - the only upside being their relative proximity to the major game farms, although the western cape does also have a few nowadays.......if you have a choice and can get tickets to the games, cape town is really the only place where you'll also be making a good holiday of your trip! having said that durban at that time of year will offer you warm weather and beaches - cape town will give you a proper winter! joburg will give you good weather in the day, freezing nights, and a big ugly city to spend your time in!
  10. why wouldn't heitinga want to give up CL football for mid-table premier league obscurity as for van der vaart, forget it.... don't waste your time watching these nonsense stories till deadline time!!!
  11. of course he's not a rubbish player BUT there are plenty equally good central defenders around and he should be very replaceable. getting 22mil for him is an absolute joke, so very chuffed he's gone. at the same time, we can't blame him for taking the opportunity BUT don't be a lying tw*t about it: "The money doesn't mean anything to the players - we just want to be part of something successful here" -- now you're just being a f*cking knobhead. everyone just do the simple maths: everton get 22 mil for a player worth maximum 12 --- we're 10 mil to the good lescott's wages go from say 50,000 per week to 90,000 - he's 2 mil better of per year man city pay 22 mil for a player worth 12 -- they're 10 mil down so the only real losers here are man city, quite simple as for the best of the rest outside the top4? there's no such thing, over the past few years the premier league has become a bunch of mediocrity from 5th to 15th, below which is just shite. anyone can beat anyone on the day and half a dozen sides can finish top 5th/6th.
  12. think that's the bottom line: YOUR CLUB IS GONE FOREVER!!! I've said it on this forum before, I would F*CKIN hate for us to get the sort of cash you and chelsea were handed, by someone utterly unrelated to the club; for me it would be the equivalent of the wimbledon/mk dons/afc wimbledon saga -- it's no longer the same club. surely every long-serving chelsea fan would acknowledge a certain hollowness in the success they've bought, and f*ck me if it wasn't a hollow "atmosphere" when I saw them at the bridge in the CL last year!!! I've got no genuine ties to EFC, having only gone over to the UK to see us for the first time in 2000, but I've followed them since 1985 - still, I wouldn't want an "outsider" taking over the club, because this is a FOOTBALL CLUB TO THE F*CKING CORE. now back to lescott story: 1) he is way overvalued and VERY REPLACEABLE so we should have sold a long time ago 2) not bothered by hughes behaving like a w*nker -> he'll be out of a job before the end of the season - UNDERWRITTEN 3) think moyes got this wrong, but for everything he's done right, this fades into irrelevance 4) not a single person will look back on this in a few years and and give a crap; not gonna affect EFC in any way and not gonna help MCFC much either he's going, so administrators, can't we just close this boring topic a bit early?
  13. 1. chelsea 2. man u 3. ars 4. pool 18. pompey 19. wolves 20. hull
  14. unfortunately all these transfer speculation topics end up drifting into other areas, as the inevitable wait for a predictable "nothing happens" ending becomes increasingly drawn out
