  1. We also have a saving of 33% on Finch Farm for the duration of the lease - about £15 million saving I think. However all of our debt has been leveraged against the additional TV revenue so we won't feel the benefit, we spent that years ago. My understanding and interpretation of our situation is that we don't make much, if any money at all, what we have is spent paying interest on loans taken out years ago - what is concerning/encouraging (not sure which the former I think) is that our debt levels have remained static, neither rising nor falling. This means we are merely maintaining them not paying it off, it also means we are relatively stable. I don't know where the money has come from for our transfers thus far but past history would dictate we have to sell a player to balance the books as our transfer surplus has generally been used to this end. The bottom line is debt I reckon. Those that have spent in the window thus far who I would consider lesser clubs to us haven't got any debt, they feel the benefit of increased revenue and can use it to fund team improvement not the balance sheet.
  2. Very interesting read. I think when you look at net interest payments we are in 6th place. Swansea figure is there to see £0 in interest and they make the point about Norwich being in the same boat - this I guess is the difference in player purchases. Both Norwich and Swansea have spent pretty big so far but should have the financial flexibility, given the additional TV revenue is not already leverage against debt This is what the article had to say about us in a nutshell Everton made a loss of £9 million from revenue of £81 million and a wage bill of £63 million (10th highest in the Premier League). The operating loss of £19 million was improved by adding back £14 million of player amortisation and depreciation less a working capital adjustment of £2 million, giving a negative cash flow from operating activities of £7 million. Everton’s need to box clever is highlighted by the fact that even after net player receipts of £11 million (sales £23 million, purchases £13 million), they do not quite manage to break-even with negative cash flow after financing of £2 million. All other things being equal, they need to sell a player every season to stay afloat. This is due to £4 million interest payments and £0.9 million repayment on assorted loans. The club’s debt stands at £49 million with an £11 million overdraft plus £24 million loan notes (borrowed against future season ticket sales) and £14 million loans (borrowed against future TV money). The lending arrangements with Barclays Bank expire on 31 July 2013, so these will have to be renegotiated in a few months.
  3. He isn't a bad player but meh, wouldn't get me excited. Plus he is african and we cant really afford to lose players every other year for ACN
  4. Make it £20 million and yes. Hasn't fulfilled his potential but still a tidy player, a few gooners I know quite rate him. The money gets us Fer and we have some left over so 1 for 2 helps the squad
  5. It was merely a comparision of their respective premier league records not them as players. Did you read what I wrote when I said he was young and may well have improved and his current form is good so I hardly judged him on his record with Hull 4 in 4 for USA and 2 of those were against Honduras and Panama is hardly a glowing endorsement however and there have been plenty of players who can score for fun in Holland and struggle in the prem - Afonso Alves anyone?

    Jokes thread

A woman gives birth to twins but has to give them up for adoption One goes to Egypt is called Amal the other to Spain and is called Juan Several years later she gets a letter and photo from Juan and turns to her husband and says thats brilliant now I only need to know about Amal He says "they are twins you silly bitch you seen Juan you seen Amal"
  7. Google translate is shit - still cant make head nor tail of it
  8. Looks good in the youtube vid but don't they all! We would be more likely than Spurs as the article states more chance of first team here. Depends what they might want as a loan fee/wage contribution and whether we can get an option to buy
  9. In all fairness I did point out he was young when he went to Hull.
  10. Altidore flopped in the prem, one goal for Hull as they got relegated, Kone scored 11 for a side that was relegated. I take the point about his current form and I also realise he was only young when moving to Hull and may have improved considerably but Kone and Altidores respective records in the prem put them miles apart
  11. In fairness to the lad it was 2, he bagged one in Europe as well
  12. Looks bound for Borussia Dortmund if you believe the bookies
  13. Chelsea want to buy him because they can't fulfil their quota of English players. He would have to be mad to go there as he won't dislodge Cech and whilst Courtois is on loan for another year he still remains the one to replace Cech long term
  14. They play Chadli as a striker though? All moot though as his Wiki page says he joined Villa today for £6million
  15. I would like Bony but you can keep Chadli - just doesn't score enough, 21 in 80 appearances for FC Twente. Most prolific season last year with 10 from 22 but for roughly the 8-9million mark he can go elsewhere
  16. Sky Bet have cut his odds to 1/5 to join Norwich after some big bets. If we miss out on him we must be mental - £2million is nothing in todays current market for a promising young english player
  17. This is true just ask Micky Flanagan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hICVC37Mk8
  18. Pace is an outstanding attribute to have if coupled with technical ability. Give me a gifted slow coach who can use his technique to overcome his lack of pace than a kick and rush merchant every time. Anyone remember Tony Daley?
  19. Darren Bent - alright he is 29 but has proved he can score in the prem. 172 appearances for Spurs, Sunderland and Villa and 72 goals scored. He should come with a point to prove and its a world cup season. Has had his injury problems recently but this isn't down to an underlying issue and being kept out of the side by Benteke when he has been fit.
  20. Press conference called for 4.00pm today http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/2/8758284/everton-to-unveil-martinez

  22. I'm not convinced. BK was very vague but suggested he still had further candidates to interview who were currently under contract elsewhere. If Roberto is the man why not just announce it? We know what the compo package is to Wigan and it would appear everything would be in place to make the announcement
  23. I don't see it as nailed on as the bookies would have you believe but the constantly fluctuating marketplace must be not just making them a small fortune but the wiggle room to extend/shorten odds. I have just had a tenner on Pereira at 25/1 with paddypower so we will wait and see but like you say the price is way too high for a manager I still believe is in the running for the job
  24. Based on an assumption we have failed to prepare
  25. Exactly. Knee jerk reactions are not required and we are looking for a specific type and this will take time. We should all be careful what we wish for with a quick appointment - act in haste and repent at leisure
