  1. Everyone involved in these proceedings must be called Joey
  2. Somehow, I doubt that my disenchantment with everything football will be affected by this, whatever they decide
  3. Condolences to Patto and the rest of Bill’s family. He will be missed on TT.
  4. Don’t get me wrong @StevO, I don’t mean to hate on the ToffeeTV lads. I’ve got a lot of respect for them. I think they’ve done really well with their channel. But I think they’re still plenty of room for improvement. And that’s what I was trying to highlight. They’ve obviously got ambition to grow the channel but they are in the entertainment business after all. And to be successful in the entertainment business, you have to engage an audience. Good luck to them.
  5. Contrast this guy with the toffee TV video posted on the other thread. He’s much more engaging. No pauses mid sentence, lots of hand gestures and changes in vocal pitch for emphasis.
  6. I think the other guy a little more eloquent. I can’t remember their names but I think the ginger one is Ped. To be fair he’s comfortable in front of the camera, but going of that video at least, he’d do much better to script those kind of videos and read from a prompter than just wing it off the top of his head. Or at least have some notes about what points he wants to make. His pausing mid-sentence while he thinks about what to say next makes it hard for the listener to engage.
  7. Both for the yellow card and the pen he goes for the tackle after the ball has already gone. He’s just not got the reaction time to play at this level anymore it seems.
  8. I had actually forgotten about the potential 12 points deduction. So yeah, we’ll see how that plays out
  9. I wrote this at the end of September. I was hoping to be around the 15 point mark now, and you could say that we are there. Also, those glimpses we were seeing backing then have matured into much better overall performances. As for whether the season is going to be another long one, it doesn’t seem that way at the moment. On the basis of the games so far, I think we can realistically be hoping to be top of the league come on the end of the season. Top of the bottom half that is. A solid mid-table 11th is a realistic target I think for us this season. We still need to improve but I think the potential is there. We really shouldn’t be anywhere near the relegation battle this year; we’re a much better team this season than we have been recently.
  10. I think it’s a bit harsh to say he doesn’t give a shit about the club, the amount of money he’s thrown at it, the new stadium. I think it’s more likely that he’s just had enough. He’s blatantly failed in many regards and I suspect now he just wants out. Especially with Kenwright gone. But I think everyone is fine with that. We realise he’s took us as far as he can. Admittedly, league wise we’ve gone backwards but the stadium is a huge thing. But like you said, with a new stadium we’re prime for investment. And as for 777, my position is what other option do we have? Maybe they will end up fleecing us but we need to do something and new owners are not easy to come by. I'm resigned to seeing how it all plays out because what else is there to do? Protest? I think that will neither help or change our situation.
  11. I was thinking recently that he seems to have filled out a bit (in a good way); so maybe there’s some truth in that.
  12. I feel with Dyche the potential to get back to being one of the clubs in and around the European spots is there (given time and assuming proper investment in players etc.). Whether he’s capable of taking us higher is still a doubt for me, but we are way off that anyway. I’d much rather see us stabilised over the next couple of seasons than chop and change too soon and end up back at square one. At the moment progress is being made. Once progress stops being made, I think that’s the time to make a change. Obviously, in the meantime we should have course have targets in mind and contingency plans ready.
  13. Great result. Not arsed about the cup cos we know.....but absolutely chuffed to see us getting better and better. There'll still be ups and downs but we're definitely on the way up. One thought.... I think Beto needs to play more - but not for the reason that we are poorer without him - I feel he still needs to get accustomed to the pace and physicality of the English game. Great assist from him, but I feel he may be one of those who we don't see the best of until his second season.
  14. Great ball from Patterson. Beto should be putting that away.
  15. I've got to prefix this with the fact that I'm not really watching this match (at least the first half) with any kind of analytical eye, but my impression is this: We are a much better team than we were under both Lampard and the guy before him. Our passing is getting much sharper We are much more present on second balls, in the face of the opposition quickly after losing possession Gone is the feeling "How the F*** do we score a goal!?"
  16. We have someone who was. Just two questions: will we ever see him play again and if and when he does come back (be that for us or anyone else) will he be able to reach those heights?
  17. I think he’s been improving steadily. Not wildly brilliant then terrible, but steady overall improvement. I think that’s indicates his base level is getting better which can only be a good thing. I think there is potentially a very good player in there, but he seems to lack self belief. I’ve seen a few camera shots of him after he does something good (especially going forward) and he’s smiling like as if he’s saying “Wow, yeah, I can actually do this. I am good enough!” Which funnily enough seems to conform with my impression that his mistakes are usually down to a kind of nervous panicking. Thats just my read; as although my Polish is pretty good, the Ukrainian alphabet is completely different.
  18. I keep thinking back to, I think it was a friendly in pre-season just after we got him, I think it was his first match for us, and thinking we’ve done a decent bit of business here. since then he’s done nothing more than disappoint.
  19. Hopefully Patterson can seize his chance now.
  20. Yeah, literally 60 seconds before the handball, I thought their pressure is too high and we’re not gonna be able to stay this deep and soak this up without conceding. Then of course Keano - reliable is as reliable does!
  21. I’m not gonna jump on the Dyche made mistakes bandwagon I feel that it was the decisions made on the pitch that had a greater effect on the outcome of the match. Either way, I think the healthy thing to do is just put this one behind us and move on to the next one.
