i have a feeling he was singing into it after his antics at his dinner the other night

i think we all played well last night, from back to front, start to finish. Lukaku had his best game for us since signing perm. aiden looked alot better on the ball, and jimmy mac really does look a bargain at £15million. I loved how gibbo came on and started dictating where to play the ball from the back, and gave MacCarthy more freedom to bomb forward.

Strange how we all see the game differently at times, but this is why i enjoy the site, its nice to be able to see other peoples views on the game.

Sure you wouldn't just like to interview only Liverpool fans? I mean, you're basically just Liverpool TV after all.

Don't agree here Paddock, I'm all for football fans of whatever persuasion getting behind others, particularly at grass roots level, when in need. Was brought up on non league football and know how some clubs struggle.

Signed and the best of luck with it .

Nothing wrong with passion, and nothing wrong with being a fan from birth. My point is that that discussion is for elsewhere, not when welcoming someone eager to support this club.

Thats an amazing deal if true and leaves space for another major signing. Im happy with Barry, Besic, Lukaku and Henen but imagine if a top winger is on his way too.

Relatively new to the forum but already gathering that there is alot of negativity. Forget the glory days we live in the here and now and Lukaku is far and away the most talented player to even consider playing for Everton. 30m or less and I will be screaming in my cubicle and skipping away on my lunch break. I'm amazed at how little an established PL striker carries weight around here. Why buy two strikers for 30m from other leagues and not be sure of what you are getting? Lukaku 31 PL goals before he turned 21. Done and dusted, now we just need him to agree to play here.

there are lots of strikers in the uk and abroad. who is available that would fit into roberto's plan?

he sees rom as the perfect fit for everton, he likes what he sees. i think bony would be a good fit personally to, BUT swansea WANT to keep him, so have slapped a silly amount of money on his head. The difference is Chelsea arent really assed if they keep him or not, which makes it better for us. I have also heard that they want 30million, but this would include the 6million we paid to have him on loan last year, taking it to 24million, i have also read online that its 30million euros which is about £22.5

We dont know anything really. until he signs for us or someone else lets keep it friendly. we all have opinions but they are just that :-)

I think Ross spoke well of the club, he is nervous but he spoke highly of the club, the players and the manager/staff. If you're nervous and get asked a question so what influence did the manager have on you signing a new contract. Barkley spoke highly of him and they said yeah everybody says that but what do you really think. Give the kid a break, he is up and coming and a lot of top clubs were interested. It is GREAT news that he has signed a new contract!

I think he will turn out to be an absolute gem of a player. Even though he wasn't fit when he played for us he looked unbelievably fast over 10 yards and his feet will cause trouble. I was really impressed with him. A full pre season should get the best from him.

Madmatt reacted to Hafnia in Jack Rodwell
I think its very easy to look at the likes of Cleverley and Rodwell and think "not all that, can't hack it, over rated at a young age etc etc"

Some young players are often over burdened with "tags" and find themselves in a position where they have gone from youth team star to a player the fans are looking to replace an experienced campaigner.

I look at Barkley and think "what would have happened to him if Martinez never got hold of him" - he was on a down hill spiral, a player who looked like he may end up in league one due to "incorrect man management for his type of footballing personality" - shall we say. Lets be honest even with a great season for Everton, Hodgson proved that certain managers just aren't right for certain players.

I also look at players like Arteta, Pienaar, Gibson, who just needed that move to a "family atmosphere" club and to play in front of fans who will give them love if they give us commitment.

I honestly believe there is a player there in Rodwell, just like I believe so in Cleverley. The club that gets them and taps into that potential will get £20m worth of talent on the cheap. I also believe that to be the case with Danny Welbeck, but I don't want to send the forum into meltdown - i've had a long hard look at him and I honestly feel that with some specific coaching on his decision making and help with composure he can be a very good player. As an athlete he is very gifted.

If we had a cautious manager I would not be in for these players - we don't though, we have a manager who is a very clever psychologist and motivator - look what he did with Callum McManaman and Maloney - players who are very much "confidence players".

This is the difference between Moyes and Martinez for me. Give Moyes a player with limited ability and he will relish getting 100% effort and discipline. Give Martinez a player with plenty of talent and he will get them playing with 100% confidence and freedom.

Both have their merits, but the latter is what wins trophies.

the players i would like to see are

colback, diame, welbeck, milner and another striker. i think this would really give us the boost on quality that is needed to go to the next step and play in europe. if we can add the youngesters coming through, and a few from north of the border for future years to i think it would be great business.

the reasons behind the players i would like? colback is a decent backup for what we have at the moment in the holding position and free

diame is a good box to box midfielder for when we want to change the formation or he can sit in behind the strikers simular to barkley now and cheap

Welbeck i think could be a fantastic striker given game time to build his confidence. he has a decent first touch and a cracking shot on him

Milner IMO is very under rated. a cracking holding midfielder, he can also play in a number of postions as back up.

Roberto isnt scared to rotate his players so boosting the numbers in these positions could prove fantastic business. we also have kone to come back, who i think will be hungry and want to prove his worth!

Just to update this.....about two months post treatment and all is cautiously optimistic. Saw my oncologist a while back and my surgeon yesterday and they both agree that the treatment appears to have worked in destroying the primary cancer, though it's difficult to see too clearly as my throat is still badly swollen as a result of the radiotherapy. Still many more checks and scans over several years before they can say with any confidence that it's gone completely but it's as positive as it could be at the moment; I'm even eating the odd bit of solid food (though everything tastes pretty awful 'cos my taste buds don't work properly).

Inferiority? you haven't won the league in years - I think the biggest issue Evertonians have with some Liverpool fans is that there are so many Johnny come lately's, so many who believe that they are the biggest club in the world... You like a fair few other clubs have been squashed down the pecking order by the money that is now in the game - you nearly went into admin a few years ago...

We are all supposed to bow down to the ultra loyal - deserves to win a premier league medal more than any footballer that ever stepped Gerrard? I'm made up he slipped over and potentially lost the title, for too many years i've got sick of this "one man rescue act that is Stevie G laaa" - for too many years when he was ultra dynamic he stopped and intimidated his own capable team mates from doing their thing. The other day, instead of playing the right pass he was trying to burst the net to make up for his error like some 10 year old school captain who's ego couldn't handle the error he made. For Gerrard its always been about him, why would he even consider joining Chelsea???

Why bring the whole "why support a Manchester club when they insult scousers?" into it??? I'm sure the Man United Fans hate the Munich chants so much that many of them would sooner City win the title...

Everton will turn up like the honourable club that we are and play Man City - we may win, we may draw, and we may lose. This is one game I am happy to lose, well in the knowledge that many a Liverpool fan will revert to type and slate Everton for all they are worth no matter the result. Shove the title we handed to them under our noses, laugh at our loans while they go and spend the riches they earn...

    nah, not having it.
