A Trebly Bad Week For Everton

Recommended Posts

Portsmouth's victory means another UEFA cup place disappears form the legue because there cannot be a Chelsea-Manchester United final

Crumb of hope (although hopefully we won't need it)...

The UEFA Fair Play Competition, which was introduced in the 1993/94 season gives three countries the chance to enter an additional club for the UEFA Cup. UEFA maintains a ranking list based on all national and club matches played between June 1 and May 31 in all UEFA competitions except the UEFA Regions Cup. The association that tops the ranking automaticly qualifies for a UEFA Cup place. All associations which achieved an average of 8 points or more go into a draw to determine the other two places.

The three UEFA Cup places go to the club which won the domestic fair play competition. For this purpose each association maintains a ranking list based on matches in the national league and cup. If the winner already qualified for one of the UEFA competitions the next club on the domestic fair play ranking gets the UEFA Cup place.

England are currently topping the European Fair Play league.

Everton are currently fifth in the English Fair Play league, behind ManU, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal, all of whom will have qualified elsewhere barring a miracle.

Therefore, as things stand now if I understand it right, we could still finish sixth and qualify :) .

Could also take heart from the fact that the team we beat fairly comfortably last week-end just won at Old Trafford :) .

And City lost, Blackburn only drew at home to Fulham....that's the two of them effectively out of it hopefully, a significant gap below Villa now...

....a Trebly good week?

but only one place? based on results in the cups?

intertoto not looking so stupid now.

did the shite apply? just out of interest...

Probably not but if they start to feel insecure about getting a Eufa place you can be sure that they will, and the FA will do all in their power to make sure that one of the "Geese that lays their golden eggs" will get it no matter if they applied or not.
