emilin
Hello Everton fans! I'm a fan of Valencia and I'm wondering what you think about Manuel Fernandes? Because at the 6 months at our club he wasn't quite the hit, but from what I've read he has been good for you. If you were a fan of Valencia, would you want to keep this player at your club? What's his pros and cons (if that's correct)? I appreciate every answer
Romey 1878
I'm sure why you want to know to be honest because according to your club officials he's leaving again this summer - hopefully back to us. Anyway, in his first loan spell with us he was top quality and we were all desperate to sign him. When he came back to us on loan again in January he was mostly mediocre, I believe that was mostly down to a lack of confidence and match fitness because once he'd been given a little run in the side he showed glimpses of the quality that made us want to pay £12million for him 6 months beforehand. emilin
Thank you for your answer. And he was probably lackin in confidence since he played almost nothing and then he had to sit in jail for a night and stuff like that. Allthough everyone knows he has the quality to be a top-player many valencianistas doubt that he has his head in the right spot to be what he actually could. MikeO
why did he spend a night in jail? Manuel Fernandes may not be adjusting to Valencian cuisine or the Che midfield, but he’s certainly taken to the wild Valencian nightlife. The moody Portuguese midfielder spent a night in prison after a fracas at a night club in the city center last night. The Portuguese star was with a group celebrating teammate Miguel’s birthday. All of a sudden, a bust-up took place after a fellow party-goer called the police claiming his watch was stolen. While Miguel was not taken to the police station as he refused to leave the disco without his lawyer or his whiskey, Fernandes and his brother were escorted away. Despite requests from the rest of the players, the police refused to allow Fernandes’ release. He spent the night in a holding cell. Does your computer not have Google on it? Spot on and typical of a lot of young players. Supposedly have the "talent" but will never show it as they get caught up in the "footballers" lifestyle. IMO Fernandes is not an Everton player, you guys can keep him at Valencia
KillaGTiR
great player but can get abit lazy and go missing some times
Johnny Bryant
The glimpses we saw at the end of this season show that given a decent pre season he could do wonders

jamiemaher85
I'm sorry but you can't deny that he really upped his game at the end of the season, after he had stated he was fully fit for the first time as well. He still wasn't perfect but IMO he never was, its easy to look back to his first spell with rose tinted glasses, he was still occaisonally wasteful and could easily go missing in games. But he is still young, he will improve, and he showed at the end of the season that when he is at full fitness he is one of our most creative midfielders and would be a huge benefit to the squad. He is not the answer to all of our prayers, and we shouldn't try and make him out to be that, but he is still one hell of a good player. Everton_Worshiper
I can deny it and I shall. Creative, you mean he found creative ways to loose possesion - yes I agree with this. No one will convince me, he is not a "hell of a good player".
jamiemaher85
Fair enough, your entitled to your opinion and I'm not going to try and bully you into another view. Personally I hope he does a David Nuggent and proves you wrong. jokes jokes jokes
Everton_Worshiper
lol yeah I still think Nugent would be good in the right team and actually playing football - but yes so far he has been shit
rubecula
I like Fernades myself. Ok he can be a bit hit and miss, but so were a few other players before Moyes got to work on them. I think he could do a really good job for Everton. He could also bomb badly. But my money would be on him doing well with a good bit of preseason and perhaps a kick up the backside. I am sure once his confidence is back he will be an asset. Yes ok I know there is going to be disagreement on this. I respect that.
Fozastuta
I remember the mass hysteria around him leaving for you last summer for £12m, all i can say is, thank god we never paid anything like that sum. He was never worth that amount first time round, although he looked twice the player compared to his last stint. A few fancy touches, followed by numerous lazy passes suggest to me, he has a lot of learning to make the grade. I'm all for having him back, but for less than half the price, or another loan to have a good look again, because i'm not convinced, and i dont think Moyes is either. StevO
we'll never know what could have been if he would have signed the first time round for £12m, he could have gone on to have a great season. if we can get him for the £6m quoted then i think it'll be good business, or even if we get him on a loan with the option to buy when it suits us then i'll be made up. bags of potential, not been realised yet as hes been very unsettled for the last three years. if we get him on loan for a season i think it could really be make or break time, if by 24 he's spent 3/4 years going out on loan all over the place i think he'll bomb, if he does the business and we tie him down for 3/4 years we could see a decent player be come a very good player and really be a player to build the team around. a lot of it comes down to what manuel fernandes wants from his career.
