Moyes just said on ssn we have none or very little money to spend come jan so we are fucked.

can we get an emergency loan for our next game? your allowed with one keeper and im sure you can with one striker.

we are gona seriously struggle if we lose both of them long term...and vaughan too!

big vic will have to get his chance with cahill playing just off of him....could be just the thing he needs

I'm hoping that for some reason Moyes is bluffing when he says that he has no money to spend in the transfer market. With Yakubu out we need to try and tempt Vagner Love to come even more. Saha looks like he could come back, when I saw in the injury I thought that it could maybe be a 3-4 week job, at least I'm hoping it is.

If we can't spend big bucks then we should look to the lower leagues. How much would it cost to tempt James McFadden to come back to Goody?

Well time to give Jutkiewic a game and I would be tempted to use Baxter as a sub. I would even look towards Kieran Agard (he has looked good for the reserves).

Imagine how fun this hectic festive period of games is going to be! A chance for a youngster to shine...

It never rains but it pours hey... Mind you, I've been thinking about this... I've been one of the ones urging Moyes to leave 5-4-1 and play two up top, but by anyone's standards it has hardly been a roaring success this season. I ripped into them like everyone else after the Wigan match and said on here I wanted to see if they could come up with a response at Shite Hart Lane, which I doubted. Lo and behold, I was wrong, and we looked like our old selves again yesterday - playing 4-5-1.

Yeah there's no doubting we're now faced with a pretty major striker crisis, but under Moyes we've never really relied on our forwards to get the bulk of the goals anyway, bar the Yak last year. We all knew what Saha's record was like when he arrived, Moyes said he would be happy if he could get him out half the games so him being out is no surprise. I hate to say it, but I can't see how Vaughny's knee can keep going and him still have a career ahead of him - it's a shame, but I dont think he's ever going to shake it off. The Yak is the real sickener of course, him being out for the season would seriously damage any side. BUT, always looking on the bright side, put it this way - we have a midfield full of players who are good going forward and capable of getting a goal, and the way Moyes likes to play with one up top gives them all the freedom to do that. If there was one of our four strikers I'd want to be fit to play the loan striker role, it would be big Vic - he's strong as an ox, great at holding the ball up and will run all day long for you. Now I know it's a lot to ask the lad, and we've got to hope to god he stays fit, but until January he's going to have to lead the line and be the focal point of how we play - a massive opportunity for him to shine. I'm not even worried about him not being prolific, if he can do what he's good at and give Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta, Fellaini and Osman the chance to get the ball in the box, we'll still score goals.

And anyway, we're Everton - we're at our best when it looks like everything is against us. This could be just what we need to get that never-say-die attitude and tight-knit mentality back - C'mon you Blues, let's do Villa and start our assault on the top four again!

It's the other knee isn't it?

What about Fellaini up front? I mean he'd be a good target man up front and he can score. Cahill can play his usual attacking midfield role (that's if we go 4-5-1). I think it could work.

Moyes said he would consider cahill up front but only if there were no other option really. Anichebe and Jutkietwisc (stupid name to spell) are still options, and Saha is being assessed today. Plus he said he will look at loans in jan and since the russian season takes a big break we might get vagner love on loan.

Well we really are in trouble now. Goals where hard enough to come by as it was, but now. Shiiiit. I can't even think who we would/ could get in Jan. Obviously it would only be a loan, I can see some shite like Marlon Harewood arriving to help "save" our season.

This is really a huge problem and could seriously limit anything we do this year.

All of our strikers are injured.

All of them!

What the fuck are we going to do?

4-5-1 is our best formation I can't see cahill playing up front on his own and the Jan window is too far away.

And even in Jan we have feck all money.

jofanon!.......Can I suggest 4-6-0!

How about Lescott up front, I'm sure Baines would be all for that!

We are just going to have to cope.Anichebe is getting better all the time and will benefit from more time on the pitch, were getting harder to score against, so try and pinch the odd goal or two.Something will come along in January........shit happens!

We still have 4 other senior strikers:

Anichebe

Jutkiewic

Agard

Baxter

I'd harldy call them all senior strikers. Anichibe- Yes. Jutiewic, Agard and Baxter can't really be called senior strikers when they have only really represented us at reserve or acadamy level, apart from a small handful of 5 minute cameos.

We have 1 senior striker available to us and a few youth players who may or may not be able to make the step-up yet.

i dont think you can call any of them senior to be honest. i mean, baxter still isnt a pro and the other two are even further down the pecking order than him.

vic is the closest to being senior, and hes only 4th choice! (and shit)

John Motson suggested Everton (and Villa) may well go for Heskey in Jan :) on 5live tonight.

Would we seriously go after a striker who doesn't score goals when it's goals we'll be needing? Heskey is nothing more than a supporting striker, we need a senior striker to get us goals. It's a no from me.

With the injurys we have picked up at least 20 goals have just walked off the pitch and i dont know how we are going to compensate for that i really dont. We had a whole summer to bring in the players we needed an we stumbled and crawled I can only imagin how pethetic we will be with a month to do our business. So i wont be holding mt breath... my hopes an prayers lie with a lad who comes on wif 10 mins to go an stops running after 5 of them because he is worn out.

Erm officially they are members of the first team (senior) squad thus they are senior players by definition (check the OS for clarification).

could be a good thing i mean we havent had a chance see baxter up front proper was on the wing when he came on last time

this will be great for anichebe i mean its hes chance now to prove hes good enough which i personally think he is and cahill can now play where he wants and where he is best so lets just see how it all goes but as i said on the other thread heskey is worth a shout imo for a couple million

If we have next to nothing to spend i'd take a punt on Owen in January with a price tag of 2-3mil and has already stated he would be willing to take a wage cut how much of a cut is the question but if it was a sizable cut then i would much rather go for Owen then Hesky, I think he would jump at the chance to join us as the top four clubs wont look twice.

yeah but he'd be another saha whos been good but is so hard to keep fit and really wouldnt like to massively injury prone strikers

heskey isnt that bad for injuries really and we have the goalscorers they just need the service

So many names being bandied about here. It's all well and good to try to get replacement strikers, but whoever we get (if anybody) ain't gonna set the world alight with goal-scoring feats if he doesn't get the ball. Both the Yak and Saha have been starved of possession in goal-scoring positions because of the long hoof upfield tactics being applied. Possession doesn't count for a striker if he has to go out to the wing to get the ball! Sadly that has been the Yak's deal this season - very few opportunities where it counts. Saha has been working hard to make the opportunities but lacks the support to get any 1-2's going.

For anyone coming in it's going to be tough trying to score goals with the current tactics we are using.

I agree with you but hopefully now that Stevie P is back in the side we should see a bit more football being played through the midfield and that should see us creainting a few more chances

The way the Yak has been playing this season he looks just like Anichebe anyway, fed up of seeing his fat lazy arse strolling around the pitch without a care in the world!

At least we will find out once and for all if Big Vic is going to make it in the Prem

It just gets better and better!!

Its in todays Daily Post that Vaughn has had to fly back from America without having had his operation because the surgeon

has broken his arm in a skiing accident so he is going to be out for even longer!

That was on Sky Sports News yesterday. They said all of that about the physio which will inevitably make Vaughan stay out for longer. He's expected to be out for many months more than first thought because of the accident to the doc.

<_<

(random headlines)

Yakubu out for 9 months.

Louis Saha injured, unknown when returning.

James Vaughan will face a prolonged spell on the sidelines after the man who was due to perform surgery on his right knee broke his arm in a ski-ing accident.

Victor Anichebe - Moyes: “If he plays as he did for an hour until his injury we’ll be more than happy.”

Three words to describe this situation: Really fucking annoying.

Lukas and Jose, its all up to you boys until January.
