What Are You Listening To?

Recommended Posts

One for the oldies really. I was preparing a playlist for my radio show and this popped up. I like it. Good guitar work (I like) Rolling stones tune (I like) Live on Old Grey Whistle Test ( I like)

In fact if you are of a certain age What is not to like?

And from way back in 1968:

Last thing I listened to was the biggest hits of 1969. Can still hear them now. The Archies, Thunderclap Newman, Amen Corner, Creedence Clearwater Revival etc. One of my favorite years for music releases. would have included it at the time if able.

I can't stop listening to the Ruen Brothers recently. If you click the link below you can download it (legally!) for free.

If you like it, I would recommend searching for 'Aces' by the same band; it isn't as catchy as 'Walk Like A Man' initially, but it's definitely a grower.

14:34 minutes worth of a Smiths Best album. Took me a while to get into VU, so thought it may be the case with them. Nope, they have one or two decent songs (in general, not just based on this album), but other than that they are bland and mediocre. Really don't know how they always get a mention when people talk about great albums or bands.

I agree. Never got The Smiths, Morrisey's voice I just find irritating.

I was actually going to include you in the post :), but thought I may have got your thoughts on them mixed up with Joy Division (as I remember we both prefer New Order).

You guys are dead to me! :shaking fist:

I have even convinced my wife who is pregnant with our second child that if we get a boy this time he will be given the second name Morrisey. For example Jonatan Morrissey H (which is the front runner at the moment)

Right now listening to

Jimmy Eat World UK Tour 2013

If you're near a show this week, fucking go. The Dublin show last night was easily the best gig I've been at in years. And I saw The xx a month ago

I'm a big Jimmy Eat World fan! Clarity is one of my favorite all-time albums. Good shout!

Their new stuff is absolute shite though. I could fall asleep listening to their latest effort. So boring.

Yeah, new album isn't great - but the setlist only has 3-4 songs from the new album, 1 from Invented and then nearly 20 old ones. It's faultless :)

The string of Clarity, Bleed American, and Futures was a great era for them. They fell off a little bit after that.
