I'm not sure we are getting better off the pitch Mark.

But are kits are now manufactured by Nike rolleyes.gif . Joking aside there have been improvements, but we still have a lot to do in building are revenue streams. Short term we need European football to get more exposure and hopefully higher comercial revenue. Long-term we need a new ground with commercial abilities on top of bigger crowds.

We dont do anything with the exposure, the biggest factor of exposure should be merchandise sales but we out sourced it. Then we dont fill our current ground, and any matchday revenue other than tickets, we dont make any money, we outsourced it. Long contracts with the out sourcing is quickly putting us behind the competition and we cant get out of these deals for years. Too many quick fixes. No long term planning.

Isn't outsourcing it giving it to people who are better than themselves, which is exactly what is being asked for them to do. We dont sell out because the stadium has 8000+ obstructed views, discount them and we sell out every week. The government knocked back the Tesco stadium (absolute joke of a decision during a recession) and we couldnt afford the King dock stadium, European football would have made us a more attractive investment but we got robbed by Fifa with an assist from a baldy cunt.

This outsourcing means we get a set fee while the company that covers the catering rakes in a hell of a lot more every matchday. How does that make good business sense?

Outsourcing is a very limited way of running a business. We could make more money by actually employing people to work for the club to run these things, thats how a big majority of clubs are making big money.

True we have a lot of obstructed views, but we dont even sell out all the good seats apart from united and the derby. They wont discount tickets, they just dont do it.

We didnt have the money we needed for Kirkby anyway.

We were making no profit from it, so have out sourced to experts on a short term deal, we get their expertise and more profit than if we done it by ourselves. They make a profit doing what they're good at. Win-win. At the end of the deal we can carry on doing it ourselves with the knowledges gained from them, or they will offer a better terms. Again step forward for the club, a very sensible bit of business.

Apparently there are multiple clubs named "Al Nasr" in the Middle East. I just saw an article linking Cahill to the UAE Al-Nasr instead of the Saudi Al-Nasr. This might make more sense, as fellow Australian Mark Bresciano plays for the club, and clubs in the UAE seem to be more spending big money on getting foreign players and coaches more than the Saudis have.

short term deals? nope.

learn from them? how? they bring in all of their own staff.

we were poor at what we were doing, instead of learning and improving we just took the easy, limited option. not a step forward at all.

actually, im bored of it now. i just give up.

pete im sorry, the club is progressing, im wrong.

also, i'll call the bank in the morning and tell them dont worry, the club is doing well, you will have your money back very soon as our commercial deals will look after us.

any update on the sarcasm font?

10 years is relatively short, and we're three years in and been on the winning side of the deal so far. Only 7 years left which is less than half the time period of a patent, so considering it's information we're gaining it is a very good deal.

The club have been doing it for years at a loss (with 20 years experience?), surely it makes sense to let a specialist take over. It's hardly going to be hush hush what they're doing, the club will be watching over, with the length of the deal indicating to me that the club has access to full information otherwise theyd be no reason to make the deal for that long. Apparently Kitbag have made a loss up to now, so how Everton were meant to make a profits through self learning is very unrealistic. Having the money upfront is helping our finances, if we were doing it ourselves we would have been £9+ mil out of pocket(bye bye *insert 9 mil player here*), with this year due a profit. We wont get the benefits of the higher profits now, but the cash upfront has helped us keep one player (or a few fringe players) and now kit bag will earn there money back over the next 7 years, with us still getting 3 mil a year is a fair deal. Also the money being guaranteed gives us more leeway with the banks as the revenue is secured.

OK, the deal is good. but then newcastle and villa (pretty much the same stature in todays game) are bringing in a hell of a lot more, just for the kit deal even before a shirt is sold. but due to previous poor performance we can now say well done lads, you used to be shite, nor your just a bit rubbish and a lot worse than your competitors, but its progress, good job!

bored of this now, i had a conversation with my 3 year old god daughter yesterday, it was much more productive than this, even after a few beers and a curry with a hang over.

The KitBag deal wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't an exclusive deal (we do LOVE our exclusivity deals don't we?). It's sickening walking into sports shops (and I mean locally, nevermind across the country) and seeing shirts by every club but ours. It's a little embarrassing that I can get a shirt for a foreign side at my local sports shop but not an Everton shirt.

I would be a bit gutted if he goes because I still think he has a lot to offer Everton

He played a large portion of last season carrying injuries and playing out of position and I thought he starte to look a bit more like his old self once Jelavic came

, but I suppose its the ToffeeTalk way to write him off and have a good moan

hardly writing him off..it's time for younger blood...is it so wrong to see him not struggle through games and be a passenger for the most part?

Thats my point I dont think he will struggle through games and be a passenger

I fully understand letting him go if we need him off the wage bill, but all Im saying is that I think he would be a great player to have around Finch Farm and I think he would be a great player to be bringing off the bench.

As I said I think the main reason his form dipped last season was because he was carrying injuries and playing out of position all the time, let him get a good preseason under his belt and maybe even use him more sparingly and I reckon you will start to see a bit more of the old Tim Cahill

I would agree if it was going to be just this, not starting games, well maybe a cup game but if we get an offer lets face it we can't afford to say no can we.

I agree Cahill and Jelavic looked a good pairing but Fellaini and Jelavic looked an even better pairing - that says to me Jelavic plays best with someone who can hold-up/win flick-ons. We need the 'new' teddy sheringham and then Timmy can have the payday he deserves and felli can slot back in. If we don't find that kind of player then I'm quite happy for Cahill to stay or Fellaini to stay in the support role (where he seemed to be playing for Belgium too!)

are we in a position to be paying someone 50k a week to sit on the bench most of the time?

That's a big reason why it makes sense to sell him. He's not good enough any more to be a starter but he's on too big a wage to be sitting on the bench. And he's not likely to take a pay cut to be more in line with what he gives to the side.

no..but that's what he did last season...and if he carries on playing 90 mins per match that's what he'll become on a permanent basis i'm not sure that's disputable..his game relies on a good engine and a physicality he no longer seems to have..he still does have something to offer i'm sure but not from a starting position

Because he was carrying injuries and being played out of position
