Seemingly able to post in here now, I knew all of those except Sampdoria.

As for today's question, the guy's name is on the tip of my tongue but I just can't remember. Hopefully someone else can get it.

Yes I do know this one. Should I say? Clue: He played for West Germany before the unification.

Yes, West Germany's Gerd Müller with 67 goals scored in all competitions with Bayern Munich in 1972-73.

How many UEFA European Cup or Champions League Finals have been between English & German clubs?

Link to comment

The most obvious choice would be Nottingham Forest and Hamburg in 1980

Right, European Cup Finals and Germany vs English..

1980 - as above

1982 (just remembered) Bayern Munich vs Aston Villa

1977 Liverpool vs Borrusia Munchengladbach or however you spell it

1975 Leeds United vs Bayern Munich

I think that's it actually, I merely thought of english sides in european cup finals and then the opposition with it, simples

I don't think this has never happened since 1982, answer therefore is four finals

This season's Final will be the 6th time:

1975 Bayern Munich 2-0 Leeds United

1977 Liverpool 3-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

1980 Nottingham Forest 1-0 SV Hamburg

1982 Aston Villa 1-0 Bayern Munich

1999 Manchester United 2-1 Bayern Munich

2012 Chelsea v Bayern Munich.

Which club has won the most Football League Championships without ever winning one in the Top Flight of English Football?

I really do not know this but I am willing to have a guess.

Won a lot? so is probably an old established club. But one outside the top flight for a long time. Tricky very tricky.

Oldest club I can think of is Notts County, but I don't know if they have ever won anything. I think, although I don't know it has to be either Notts County or Burnley? Maybe Stoke. I go for County purely as they are founder members of the football league. So are the others, but I am sure County are the oldest club around.

Yes, Notts County with 8 League Titles (3 Second Flight Championships, 2 Third Flight Championships & 3 Fourth Flight Championships).

Total English League Championship won in all Four Flights 1888-89 to 2011-12

Dean at Everton

that guy at Middlesbrough before him, can't remember the name, 1920s, George Camsell it could well be

Rush at Liverpool

Were Middlesbrough even top flight at the time in question?, fuck it, that's the answers I'll go with, pressed for time today. leggit.gif

William 'Dixie' Dean (Everton, 63 goals 1927-28), Clive Allen (Tottenham Hotspur, 49 goals 1986-87) and Ian Rush (Liverpool, 47 goals 1983-84).

Wednesday 2nd April 2012:

Which England National Team manager had the best winning percentage in competitive matches?

How did camsell not win, don't understand that at all

The other one is maybe Revie, not Ramsey I'm sure, not Robson either, now you mention it, it could well be Ron Greenwood I remember reading somewhere

It was because Middlesbrough were Second Division Champions that season, so not a Top Flight club at the time.

Sven-Goren Eriksson (2001-06) won 26 of the 38 competitive matches he was in charge for, giving him a winning percentage of 68.42%

Has our North London friend been sucked into a Black Hole or done a 'Lord Lucan', there hasn't been a new question for three days unsure.png may be having some site difficulties and I can appreciate that.

I don't know the last one or not really interested to be honest, I usually try to divorce myself from anything Chelsea if I can, but 'well done' on winning the FA Cup Final the other evening, I'll allow you that.

Actually I will have a go, to hell with it, really not sure about this though..

LeBoeuf, Terry, Morris, Wise. I really don't know.

Ah there after all.

I don't see the point of supplying a question and the answer there with it, but in any event,

It could well be Seaman, in that season 2003-04 when they went unbeaten, but was he the keeper though at the time, if not that then Howard here would be a good guess, or maybe Van Der Sar or Freidel even. Could be Cudicini maybe..

I'll cut it down and say Van Der Sar and Freidel
