A opposition player just needs to stop - stand him and nudge it 10 yards to the left to get the space to cross it. He looks so unbalanced. He doesn't look like he wants to cross the ball. It happens to the best of full backs... when they lose a yard of acceleration the become a risk. Seen it with Gary Neville and Ashley Cole. Sibdane
I'd hate to see him lose his spot, but it's looking more likely that he'll never be back to his old form. Hopefully we're as successful in finding a replacement for him as we were with Baines. Matt
MikeO
I actually thought he did OK from where I was sat, but that was to the right in Lower Gwlad so I didn't really see a lot of him close up other than second half defending. He did a lot of running and worked hard but the quality wasn’t there. I’ve been hoping that he’d improve but he seems to be stagnating unfortunately
pete0
Coleman, Lookman and Gana was a shit show of a trio. Lookman cuts in and Coleman is too slow to run into the space and Gana too thick/scared of the ball to show for the ball or run into the gap. Palfy
He definitely missed Walcott doing a lot of his work and giving him protection, I wouldn’t play Lookman again whilst Coleman is the way he is, there was a distinct lack of chemistry between them, and Lookman doesn’t want to do much of the dirty work and Coleman needs him to, most of Newcastle’s breaks were down there side. markjazzbassist
he was excellent tonight. that run where the ball was kicked too hard and you thought it was going out and he hustled and beat his man and made it and crossed it in i thought summed it up for me. the benching gave him a jolt he needed. Bailey
That was as good as he has been for a long time, albeit he wasn't exactly tested! Matt

markjazzbassist
fair point, but it will give him confidence and help him to want to continue to improve. only good things in my opinion
Btay
If he starts against Liverpool it will be one spectrum to the other. He will have to be at or above 100% in the derby IMO.

I agree with all of that apart from the last bit. I don’t think Seamus ever needs a jolt to make him try harder, effort is never in doubt for me, I just think he needed the rest. Hafnia
I just don't think his natural fitness levels can compensate him any more. He looks off balance so often... something isn'tt right.

markjazzbassist
He was excellent again today. I said the benching and subsequent Cardiff match where he did well would help with his confidence and it did. FairWooney
He loves a game like this anyway, real passionate lad but the addition of Richarlison really brought his attacking play back to life, some good link up with Richarlison using Colemans runs really well

Popular Post StevO
You can’t not like what he says. I love that he mentions the leg break not being why he’s played bad, and accepting that he’s not played well enough. You also don’t hear many players talking about being paid a fortune. He’s always struck me as someone who knows how fortunate he is and appreciates everything he’s got. markjazzbassist, pete0, Bailey and 2 others
