James McCarthy

Recommended Posts

He's a "koeman" player, energetic, wants to press high and runs himself into the ground.

However I don't think he rates him too highly, I just think he knows he's needs numbers due to the amount of games we could be facing next season.

Koeman seems to really rate him.

Or Koeman's trying to get the best deal for him in the summer by telling potential suitors that he's In his plans so they'll need to pay over the odds.

A fully fit McCarthy is an asset.

Keep him fit and sell him on

I like him his energy and work rate are great and if he wasn't so injury prone I'd be happy for us to keep him here but he's a liability and we might be better cashing in whilst we can

Gossip page on BBC text is saying the complete opposite to Koeman.

EFC are willing to sell McCarthy for £30m, Newcastle and West Ham are interested.

Who can tell which is true and which isn't.

I'd be massively surprised if we get anything near £30m for him!

I like Jimmy Mac, but I'd snatch anyone's hand off who offered that amount of money for him.

I know some Newcastle fans, their pages are saying Newcastle want him and the price is £20mill.

He's a good player. But he plays in a congested position for us and if we can get near that price for a player with proven dodgy hamstrings, we'd have to take it.

Love him, and think he's a fantastic player and a Koeman player at that, but his game time is likely to be limited next season even with (hopefully) extra games, so if £20m is in the offing? We should take that all day long, and invest it in a younger player who will be happy to be a rotation player and learn from the likes of Schneiderlin and Gana.

Really?

McCarthy offers more going forward. Schneiderlin is the sitter, so I'd want more than a terrier at CM. That said, even just on the defensive side I'd have McCarthy, his positioning is much better.

In that I understand football more than you?

Yes... in that you come out with some absolute humdingers.

I've always been a huge fan of McCarthy but I'm sorry - he's lost his athleticism. His ability as a footballer isn't great and along with his injuries says to me that he can go.

Nothing close your whopper that Everton will make a loss on Lukaku.

With the money in the game and no Martinez butting in we should be able to get him up and running again. Just need MO'N to fuck off.

Rather than compare him to Gana, I think he will now be surplus because of the emergence of Tom Davies, who can do the running, tacking and offer more going forward. If the offer is right it may be worth letting him go, especially as he's soon keen to play and get injured for the leaping leprechaun on international duty.

I agree with you. a (fully fit) McCarthy is very underrated. He has that Valencia knack of bringing energy (and in his case aggression) to the team in general. His positioning is smart, and he's does all those essential things that mostly go unnoticed.

The big question mark, of course, is fitness. Before he came to Everton, I don't believe he'd really had any major injuries, so the last 3 years must have been so frustrating for him. Can he recover? I really hope he can, but only the doctors and specialists really know that, right?

His time is up for us best thing to do is move him on.

I don't believe the Koeman likes him stories.

Been put in the provisional Ireland squad to face Georgia and Serbia. Hasn't even played a game this pre season or season and still getting called up. O'Neill is a gobshite.

McCarthy should be telling O'Neill he is not fit and anywhere near ready to play football though, but i do agree that im not really sure what the Irish think they are playing at when it comes to him, they are going to ruin his career if not careful.

he will go and play both and get re-injured. i used to think Ross was the dumbest guy on our squad, Mccarthy has since eclipsed him.

Wonder if he's pulled out as he's being sold?

We can hope. If it was the McCarthy from the first season with us, I'd never sell him. But that's been a long time now and the only time I hear his name is to announce an injury. If someone is daft enough to take a gamble on him, send him on his way

at presser today "he's struggling with his fitness, we expect him to be back in training next week" .  doesn't sound good for james he just can't stay fit.

Ireland have got a World Cup qualifier against Moldova on 6th October so I'm sure he will be fit in time to get injured in that

This is such a shame. For years, he was pretty much injury-free despite playing aggressively and high-energy week after week. Indeed, he had a reputation for being a man of steel with nothing appearing to hurt him. He's had a dreadful run in the last couple of years, though, and right now we could do with his aggression and drive.

We could do with him off the wage bill, he has brought this on himself and needs fucking off pronto

Second that. His own fault and that shit house o'neil. When you play about like that with your career you'll get no sympathy from anyone when you ruin it

I'm pretty sure at this point that MON is just taking the piss out of us.

I swear if McCarthy goes...

He will of course. It's a call of duty.

TBF it's not McCarthy's fault he's being called up... but surely he should be having a conversation with MON saying he's not fit and calling him up is pointless.

Exactly this he should say I can't come I need to get fit for my own career and for Everton.

He should retire from Ireland for at least 12 months till he is fit and playing.

If he plays and gets injured we should look to terminate his contract and seek compensation for it because this is getting fucking rodiculous now.

I agree.  I think we should get shut as soon as, he,s never going to be any good now.

The minute he walks out on the pitch there is a 90% chance that he will miss the next ten games.

McCarthy doesn't deserve all this criticism. It's not his fault he's been called up. It would be his fault if he plays.

The only thing McCarthy doesn't deserve is the hefty pay cheque he gets from Everton Football Club every week
He has brought this on himself by accepting the call ups and playing when he clearly isn't ready or fit enough to do so

He's not Ireland have to pay when he gets injured playing for them.
