1st/2nd most powerful country in the world and their political race was a straight choice between the non-white guy or the anti-gay corn magnate. Disturbing matter of affairs to witness considering the economy is in the shit. Guess they'll just put some more people in jail on the quiet to slave away and fund their consumerist dream, the drones help them with that too.

A small country like Israel for instance is much more hated by all those Arab countries, because Mohammed once had a problem with them 1400 years ago, nothing to do with the Palestines, that's just an excuse. Other 'hated' nations include Germany, cause of their imperialistic interference with European politics, China because they're taking over the world, and so on.

 

Everyone is hated by at least a few entities. I don't really focus too much on it I like to pay attention to what's positive.

People from the South would probably punch me for calling them "yanks" or "yankees". Anyhow, they're a different race as far as I'm concerned.

 

The image of the US and the reality of living in the US (especially in cities) are vastly different things. A good 80% of people living in any city in the north or the west (or even most of the south) don't identify with all of the shit Americans catch a bunch of flack for. Bible thumping, gun loving idiots don't exist for me in my daily life, and frankly I just don't understand any of it. You can look to election statistics and see which counties and metropolitan areas voted left or right, and you'll see that where there are larger concentrations of people, there is less insanity.

 

Basically, I see this country's problems due to having too much space. I wish the south had left, after all.

 

As for the world hating Americans, people either hate America as a symbol or because the US has done something retarded like bomb their country for oil money. Usually it's the former. Just like Britain before it, America is a big business venture, and as such is completely fucking inescapable anywhere in the world. If the things it has brought to you have disturbed your way of life, or if one of its big businesses have ruined your local economy by opening sweat shops, you aren't going to like "America," as experienced through the big McDonald's that sticks out like a sore thumb, surrounded by beautiful 500-year-old facades.

 

Is life better here? No. Should people be jealous? Hell no. I haven't been able to go to a dentist or hospital in 7 years, because I haven't had health insurance and the businesses that run the country feel the country should run like a business (and of course, in turn, help their businesses).

 

Basically, I want out. I don't have some pipe dream that things are actually better anywhere else. But, I'd really like to be elsewhere.

I don't see how the British can hate us, or our nation even, and take into account we got you out of some scrapes in the past, may well would have been speaking German after 1945 if probably not for our intervention. You don't exactly see much burning of flags etc in this country like some middle eastern territories for example, for american animosity, and we've had a good working relationship for as far back as many can remember, and I always feel safe out an about on July 4th for example and in nation colors, but then again, don't see any reason why I shouldn't ?

 

This whole bunch of 'why do people hate the US' isn't even really applicable here. I think as someone before said, it could well be some significant jealousy above all else. And even then, it's probably from those who never even ventured over or have some misguided belief that the states is the land of milk and honey. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I left some years ago but wouldn't really want to live back again for good, although the occasional visit now and again does make for a nice change. Proud to be american, but it's not the big extravaganza that some are under the impression of. Just be proud of your own country, without the need for berating over people's heritage or nationalities.

The wars were not a case of USA bailing us out, and there were 'many' reasons why USA joined the 1st war, one of them being to save their own economy. England owed America billions at the time, and had we been invaded, they would lose their repayments, and with it their own economy would crash.

I suppose it's something you mention out of political correctness and indeed, I do not support such mentality. However I haven't seen or heard anything about christians who stone, murder, prosecute or maim people because of different religious or moral beliefs. The most extreme things I heard about are some 'christian' sects marching on the streets with protest signs against warfare, homosexuality and fornication.

 

I wish everyone would be free to believe in what they choose to believe and let everyone have the right to hear about other beliefs as well. That would make the world a much more peaceful place No intimidation, no fighting.

All those things are as related to christianity as Sikhs are to Islam or Buddhists to Hinduism. Nowhere near it, but it uses a few things from it. Misses the foundations completely and turned to the opposite thing.
