Amazing photography thread

Recommended Posts

I had to do a fucking double take to see who the author was.

It's a good picture. I never use the word 'nice' but you get the general idea. I don't mind polar bears. They never did me any harm. The cub mauling the leg is actually a decent shot. It's a very good picture, seriously.

"Avin sighed, defeated and dazed, knowing full well that the birth of the amazing photography thread had taken a wrong turn, cruel as it might be, and there was nothing he could do to bargain with the savages, that upon this day, had so, without sympathy or remorse, put a sharp knife to the life vein of the very existence of the said thread, before bludgeoning it to death with the blunt handle, without so much as a plastic ground sheet in sight."

True. Here's some of his earlier work.

Ace Ventura 2, When Nature Calls for those in the dark. Probably the only sequence in the entire movie that offered any humor. Very poor release from the usual superlative Carrey

The photography thread is good enough, there was a great shot of a polar bear, or polar bears, and it was quite poignant. I look forward to seeing what else you can put together.

To the two kids, I get angry when I find there's nothing to get angry about. Just don't feel the same, it's not fair

No, not my pictures but would have been real easy to admit to. Not 'amazing' also, it has to be said, that's simply an exaggeration on the authors part.

Don't know if it's right to call it "amazing" as I took it myself but I'm quite proud of this one....

Somali Pirates on exercise, Photo courtesy of MikeO, cell 3 somewhere in Somalia. Excuse the shakey shots, trousers round the ankles time again.

Actually MikeO it is a great looking shot :)

Was at a petrol station today (pre kick off) and saw a guy wearing the new Everton away shirt....was wearing last year's white myself so normally I'd have gone over for a chat.

But he was a thirty something and had it tucked into tracksuit trousers . Gave him a wide berth....it's not just Liverpool fans; we have our own embarrassing element.

Vevey - my lunch spot....

vevey_zps5a3849c3.jpg

I very much like Vevey - headquarters of Nestle, right? Years ago, I was attending a conference in Geneve and stayed in a hotel in Villeneuve. Every day, I'd take the train, and we'd stop at Vevey. When the stop was announced by a female guard on the train, the name sounded really warm and sensuous! What I didn't know is that it's great wine country around there - but Switzerland does not export its wines.

spot on, on all accounts.

The wine here will be the death of me, along with the cheese! You can find some Swiss wine exported, but usually through a specialist

last one for now....

Matterhorn is one of the most beautiful mountains in the World I think. So impressive. If I believed in a supreme being I'd applaud him for it.

Zermatt is a lovely place, but about 20kms away theres a little town called Grächen, which is simply staggering. Doesnt have the Matterhorn but has much, much less tourism and a view like this:

Hang on, why were staying in Villeneuve?'

With a new message added to the thread, I just noticed your earlier question. Why did I stay in Villeneuve? Because it was a huge conference in Geneve, and Villeneuve was the closest place with hotel rooms available! Stayed at the Hotel Maritime, if I remember correctly (although, searching on Google, I don't see such a place any more - maybe they renamed it). Loved it, and didn't mind the train journeys at all.

Edit: Looks like the hotel is now called La Tiniere.

He has. He actually was doing text speak WAY before anyone else.

The blackboard actually read "LOL, K u"

Which was in response to someone's take on physics and was like, "Laugh out loud, OK you!" Implying he was trippin or something. Clever bastard. Way ahead.
