Signed a pro deal at 18 today. A Centre back that's played a bit of Under 19 for England.

Anyone seen anything of him or know much of him, much of a prospect?

Seems smart lad, picking up 10 A* GCSE's! Rare enough from a footballer especially the amount of time they spend training as well, gives himself decent options if things don't work out.

Wow, impressed with his grades, nice to see a footballer smarter than your average rock for once. Good luck and congrats to him. Haven't heard of him at all, which leads me to think he isn't one of our big "Up and comers", then again, he is only 18, we'll see how he progresses over the next two years.

The only other player that I can think of that got A*s for his GCSE's was Lampard. I've he's only half as good a player as him, he'll be a legend. Hpoefully, his performance of his studies are a sign that he's smart and motivated; not many youth players can or want to keep up with their studies. Good lad, and good luck!

I think that's a really good sign. If they think what a 19 year old needs is first team football week in week out to progress, he must be decent. Not sure I'm as confident about Hallam Hope going out on loan, though.

Martinez has complained more than once about how English teams don't offer a realistic path to the first team - which leaves us short of solid young English players. It's no accident that Everton have loaned out many of the brightest young players this year to get them real experience. Personally, I see this as a good sign and shows Martinez' commitment to the future of Everton.

Hello everyone (it's been a while since I've been on here!) . Just watched an interview with this lad on the OS, he seems a bright kid (just read above posts, impressive!). Does anyone know how his performances were at Tranmere?

I spoke with a Tranmere fan who was absolutely raving about him. Saying he was top class. I hope we loan him out to a Championship club this year.

Heard nothing but good things about him from them and it was their Supporters Trust or something that paid to get him back on loan the second time.

Coventry Telegraph Player of the month at Coventry City in his first month of loan there. Been playing RB, but last match played CB against Walsall for a 0-2 win.

According to coventry fan reports he was excellent in that position.

yeah RM was big upping him either this year or last year and i was wondering if he would get a first team shot or not. you don't think he's got what it takes romey? another duffy?

I really have no idea tbh, I've not seen much, if anything, of him first hand.

I know they loved him at Tranmere (their fans group paid to get him back on loan the second time), and he's obviously done well with Coventry. But I don't know if he could transfer it to a higher level.

With the likes of Galloway, Stones and Browning seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order I reckon he will have to move on if he is to progress

I reckon he'll be sold this time next year myself. Not because I don't rate him but I just don't think he'll get game time with us. Maybe that's why we've got him tied to a longer contract - so we can get money for him, which is a smart move.

Lol before I read this I was about to respond "congrats, I'll look forward to seeing you sold to Leeds in the near future".

Would obviously like to get him loan experience in the Championship to see if he can really cut it. He seems to be flying under the radar a bit, but is highly rated. Maybe (being optimistic here) he could be the next Hibbo or Ossie? A long-serving squad player who never really becomes a star for us but remains a loyal servant?

He's going to be recalled for the semi-final apparently.

I heard that aswell, doesnt he have history with Lingard who plays for the mancs?

I heard somewhere they dont get along not sure how true it is. Meant to be a decent player tho.

Supposedly nearing his return. Hope he can find a way to stay relevant and secure a future with our squad. Not the flashiest player, but he has an underrated quality for today's defenders... He likes to defend.

I hope with Pennington, Holgate, Galloway, Foulds and the like around we are set for future CBS, sure have a good amount of them that have already been involved in the first team.

Good to hear! He looks like a no-nonsense defender, so maybe he's close to jumping on the bench once Jags is gone.

Would love to see him make it here, even as a squad player. Having a few no nonsense, nonflashy defenders is always helpful.
