Gerard Deulofeu

Recommended Posts

Really hope it's nothing too serious and he's only out weeks and not months. It's unfortunate how hamstring injuries are some of the worst to recover from, many times a player thinks he's ready to come back only to sprint out too much and suddenly, you reaggrivate it.

It sounds like he is going to be out dor months if Roberto's comments abour him targetting a return for the final third of the season are anything to go by

Yeah I was thinking in the long term we might get him for another season now. We need proper reinforcements in January. At least two creative players and a striker

I missed those comments, I'm pretty gutted now if that is true. Suddenly, we're looking pretty thin out in the wings. When Baines returns, we're suddenly down to Oviedo (which plays on the wings as a LW/LWB for Costa Rica and has looked solid) and Naismith (a hard worker but not too great). We definitely need to reinforce this transfer window, like Trev pointed out.

gutted!

He has made even looking at the team sheet before a match so exciting in recent weeks. I really hope the kid comes back soon and strong.

I am ordering my short for Christmas with his name on as a show of support haha! Seriously am gutted though. Been a shining star in a sky full of them the last few weeks.

Sad part is that hamstring injuries can't be rushed whatsover. If RM says 5 weeks, I'd honestly add on a couple more weeks to that. So unfortunate for Gerry, he was really starting to develop.

since our Robbie is a certified physio, Id trust him if he says 5 weeks. He might take more time, but I dont see him rushing him back.

I don't see how he would get any minutes unless they transferred a couple players, but if he goes back so be it. It was a loan after all and well find someone else.

Maybe he will take Messi's place in the side, who in turn wont want to sit on the bench and so would fancy a season long loan at Everton

I think the Messi to PSG rumours have been doing the rounds for a bit now. There are only a handful of teams that realistically could afford a transfer fee and his wages. PSG Real and probably Man City could maybe afford him.

Is Messi to PSG a genuine rumour? Or just some random made up crap?

I don't think there are. I saw a write-up about it a couple of weeks ago, but the main argument for Messi moving to PSG is that they could afford to pay his fee/wages. It also said Ibra and Messi had a good relationship despite how Ibra feels about Barca (Pep) in general.

Don't worry Messi isn't going anywhere.

The Deulofeu's future depends on Tello/Pedro/Alexis.

If one of them leave, then Deulofeu will be in Barcelona next year, If not he will be in Everton.

small chance we'll keep him after this season, he's now out for a while... Maybe it's a good opportunity to make a move for Sunderland's Adam Johnson? He is a way underrated player. (underperforming a bit since he's at SUFC, but his potential is huge. RM could get him at his full potential)

No. This board was very excited about him at City, but he's just never really proved that he can and will play to his perceived potential. I'd only take a punt on him if it was sub-4 or 5 million, but I doubt we could get him at that price.

In his last season at Manchester City he was massive. I watched their every game back then and he didn't alwasy play because of Silva, Nasri, Milner and the overload of strikers, but when he did he struck me as being the best English player of the team, second only to Joe Hart. His actions showed quality and efficiency. It never occurred to me how a team like Sunderland managed to sign him. TBH I though City looked likely to let SIlva go to Real Madrid back then and I was convinced they already had a replacement in their ranks in Adam Johnson.

don't rate him too inconsistent.

yeah he's going to go to the shite where they really would give him a chance? yeah right. moses never plays, iago their big signing this summer is stuck with the reserves. i can't stand the prick (rodgers), just signing people to sign them regardless of if they'll play or fit into his team.

Maybe just one more season under Martinez at Everton would do the lad good.

I don't think Barcelona would want to sell him, and he's probably not really ready for them yet.

The soloution is obvious, Barca trusted Martinez this season, why not next!

The Blues boss offered another update on the recovery of teenage winger Deulofeu, with a refreshed timescale giving Martinez much cause for optimism.
He added: "Gerard is not too far away. I will be very surprised if he is not available at the end of next week.
"That will be really positive because we knew it would be a tricky injury for the player he is. He's a real sprinter and that injury needs to be well looked after.
"I will be delighted if we can get him back then."

I could have written that! It offered no fact whatsoever, a poor article. I know most journalism is the same based on hearsay / rumour but this seemed more so than most. I take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe it's just I'm hopeful it's incorrect.
