Seriously though, I am starting to feel bad for the guy. That bizarre sub the other day (Welbeck rather than Fletcher) was surely the tipping point. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing - strange how it's come to this as even though I don't really rate him as a manager I wouldn't have went as far as calling him clueless while he was at Everton. The pressure on him after this poor start at Mancs must be too much to bear.

“It’s far less defensive. I think what Martinez has done is he’s come in and tried to be really positive and he’s aiming for the top of the league instead of aiming for 6th place. I think the mentality has changed and that’s the biggest difference for me. After 11 years of people telling us how grateful we should be for coming in the top 10, this fella’s come in and gone ‘actually that’s not good enough’, which it should have been all along. He’s changed the mentality of not just the players but of the fans as well- now we expect to win whereas before they were quite happy to just trundle along.”

Yeah, he lowered expectations to suit his own standards. It is baffling that people still repeat the old 'he had us punching well above our weight' rhetoric. As we have said Everton generally finished on par most seasons, relative to wage bill.

Hopefully things continue to improve for you all under Martinez, derby result not withstanding.

He won't be missed. It'll be like us missing Alcaraz once his contract runs out.

United fans are gutted.

Thinking on they need £200m spent wisely.... Giggs, Evra, Rio, Vidic = £100m of prime talent replaced, plus £100m to fill the midfield/winger and potential replace Rooney/RVP issues.

I don't get why tbh. He's been injured on and off for a while and when he has played he's looked sluggish. Probably should have got rid of him a year or two ago.

He has been their best defender whenever I have seen him play... Not saying a huge amount mind you.

Looking at Wiki he played 23 times last year and 21 so far this year so its not as if he is a bit part player. I bet he has a big influence in the dressing room too.

They don't look the same at the back without him, him and Rio at peak were outstanding. Not gonna be easy to replace.

after that injury looked to me like he had lost so much weight and power..not the dominant defender he was..still remember the game at goodison when he was like a 1 man wall then scored the winner too..one of the best at his peak

A top 3 centre half in the world at his peak, even now he would do a job for them. Tough to replace.
