Summer Transfer Window

The more this argument rages, the more convinced I am that I want to sell a car to Paddock. :) "The other buyer is out of the country right now but he gets back this weekend. If you don't buy today, you know you'll never find another car like this one. You'll regret the delay for years to come."

You can try but you'll end up getting those Cornish pants of yours pulled down Steve, ghat I will guarantee. Especially if it comes to selling/buying a car ;)

But in all seriousness you have your opinions and that's fine but past dealings show we have a history of getting gazumped while trying to wrangle s deal. If you honestly think that the board and manager are sitting there actually knowing they have most definately got this wrapped up so they can fuck Chelsea about until they bend and give us him cheaper you are seriously mistaken. Lukakus agent will be touting him everywhere, talking to clubs explaining the situation to them and what he wants/is available for. Lets say (and I'm talking hypothetically here) Remy (for arguments sake) fails his medical tonight, what's stopping Brenda telling Ayres he wants him and Liverpool offering the full amount up front and huge wages. Moratta breaking his leg in training, Who knows if Wolfsburg are frantically trying to get funds for him, Athletico, Spurs? All these could be ready to pounce any day now and what will his agent say to him if they do? "Listen Rom , I know you preferred to go to Everton but they're seriously fucking Chelsea around because they don't think you 're worth the money they wont pay it. where-as <insert club> have offered the lot and are also offering better wages.. Who is he going to listen to? His agent of course who by the way wont give a flying fuck where he goes as long as he gets a payday.

But just to put your car analogy into perspective IF you had a car that was as unique as Lukaku and would probably double my money for me in the future then I probably would bite your hand off and pay you quickly before someone else came along and took it from under my nose

But we ain't all physios are we. Why not just come out and say it looks like he'll be out for a few weeks. Instead of stuff like it's a soft tissue injury..., which to me (before I'd heard him say that phrase) sounds as though it's not a bad injury. The times he said that and the player missed out on over a month if football.

Now when he says that I'll just presume the players out for weeks.

Maybe its because soft tissue injuries can be difficult to diagnose? Look how many issues Rodwell has had with soft tissue injuries! Even when Kone first picked up the knock they thought he would be back in a couple of weeks but it turned out to be worse than first thought and in the end its been quite a nasty and obviously persistent injury that is frustratingly not healing as expected. Fwiw soft tissue injuries can be far worse than breaking bones etc.

Another thing to consider is the psychological element for the player. A player that has been out for a long time wants a light at the end of the tunnel. I imagine that sometimes the back room staff might be a little economical with the truth in order to keep the player motivated. Unfortunately the world isnt as black and white as you want it Cotto.

There's plenty of managers out there who say it as it is.... Out for 6 weeks etc

The soft tissue injury made it sound as though it wasn'ttoo bad. Last season there was very little communication from the club in terms of length out.

Just looked soft tissue injuries up to try and educate myself a bit on it. You're right ligaments are included but it says these injuries are sprains and strains and I think he did a bit more than either of those seeing as he was out for so long.

So I'm not sure you can really include his injury? Could be wrong like coz I'm not a physio and only did a quick read up!

Really? I see soft tissue injuries as lesser injuries; like straining your hamstring etc, and not being out for 9 months due to rupturing a ligament for example.

Soft tissue is defined as, "nonepithelial extraskeletal mesenchyme exclusive of the riticuloendothelial system and glia."
Or, for the laymen amonst us; "tissues that support, connect or surround other structures and organs of the body, not being bone. It includes tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, fibrous tissues, fat and synovial membranes (which are connective tissues), and muscles, nerves and blood vessels (which are not connective tissue)."

Anyway....back to transfers.

I'm pleased that we are adding these potential 'stars' to our team. I think we all know that's the market we deal in. We have good recent history of plucking out some gooduns. And I believe Bobby is going to implement a great footballing culture through the club.

I am also sure we will add that goal scoring striker to the team. We don't all agree on much, but I think we all agree that we have been missing a 'figure head' striker for years.

As Mikes said since its everything from slight strains through to ACL injuries. I think even cartilage damage is a soft tissue injury. It is about as non descript as you get though, it could be anything!

I prefer the more direct approach as in "kones knee is fucked he'll be out for the season"

Haha now I would piss myself if Bobby came out and said this!

I can see & understand everyones standpoint on the Lukaku thing but I'm with Paddock on it. If we can, fucking get him in a.s.a.p! If we wait till deadline day in order to drive the price down & someone else swoops last minute offering more we are fucked! Naisy & Kone as our options upfront for the first half of the season? Behave!

I imagine it will be that Henen or Galloway will have signed. I don't think we would be able to conceal anything to do with Lukaku this well. Lol

If that's what it is then it's quite sad that the club count either of those as a major announcement!

This is Everton so be prepared for a massive let down!

loads of rumours on twitter from naismiths new charity idea, to stadium details, barkley new contract and lukaku!

People are gonna be so disappointed when Martinez just talks about the pre-season games and training and then fields a couple of questions about the transfer window where he says nothing more than that he's happy with who we've brought in and that they're all working hard to bring another couple of players in.

Isn't that the case for all press conferences they air?

They don't air press conferences at all as a rule. So surely it's something big.

Barkley/Stones both new contracts possibly, but they wouldn't normally go live for that sort of thing. Intriguing; hope it's not a let down.

Really? I'm pretty sure I've already seen Everton press conferences air live on Youtube even last summer, including the countdown.

Really?

I've never seen anything like today before though, we didn't have a press conference when Baines signed a contract last year, and we didn't have one when Seamus signed last month.

Can't find this posted, so hope I'm not repeating. Here's a blogger who recommends confidence in Martinez as a manager who "is not one for dithering," who "has his cash ready and waiting," and who "acts quickly and with quality."

http://www.nsno.co.uk/everton-news/2014/07/robertos-train-wont-call-at-the-panic-station/

Should you feel so frustrated as to contemplate shooting a messenger, please aim at the blogger rather than at me, as I am innocent, and an innocent.

Like most Americans ........

I thought the same Mike

It's great news for the club and supporters alike but I found it strange to hold a press conference for a new deal when as said it didn't happen with the likes of Baines and Coleman

I just hope this isn't the old chestnut of "it's like another signing" and Kenwright and co trying to mask a poor transfer window, a premature thought I know.....

My thoughts. exacly. Kenwright's way of defending himself when we'll be glued to the tv on August 31st having barely spent a penny, again. "What our fans need to remember is we gave Ross a new 4 year contract as well as Coleman. That's effectively like 2 new signings."

Bollocks!

I've had enough of this nonsense every bloody transfer window where no matter where we seem to finish, we still have no money. Yet again, the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Utd, City, Chelsea and Spurs all spend millions. Lets remember these are clubs we compete with every season yet somehow when it comes to signings we're doing nothing, sod all compared to the others who have ambition to go places by investing in new players. I know spending doesn't always work out as it should i.e Spurs last season but in today's game you have to of you want to keep up. If Kenwright doesn't see that then he's dumber than I thought. If he does, and keeps our club living on pittens every summer, then he's just selfish. He should walk away if he has the same ambition as us fans. Unfortunately, I don't think he has.

The first lad to speak any sense on this fucking forum. Your wasting your time though pal. If you need to be appreciated on this forum or even just listened to, you need to give the big love in for big bill cause he's one of us, a true blue, such a nice guy. A nice guy that has seen fellaini sold for £28mil and tv money. Shit I've said too much.

Sorry everyone, I love bill I really do, he's really steadying the ship.

Geth, Liverpool, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, City and even Spurs are all cash rich. They all have owners with a few quid, and healthy commercial deals that put them quite a way ahead of us in terms of what they can afford. If we only had Spurs finances we would be challenging I'm sure.

Yrs, it's just that buyer he carefully in the process of looking for. Have you ever noticed that whenever fans become disappointed and start to air there grievances, there becomes a story of a possible take over, and when the dust settles nothing much materialises.

We should have a fair whack from last summers dealing, plus a decent amount from finishing 5th & the increased tv revenue to invest this summer. Bit early to be panicking at the moment but if we don't bring a fair few decent players in I'll be livid. Bit worried personally at how Bob said we needed 6-7 new faces at the start of the summer & now it's 2-3.

Yes I know they all have owners who are cash rich and we haven't but it's reached the stage where we ain't even looking. In fact, have we really ever looked for new investment? I guess it's only Bill that knows but I'm not too sure he has deep down. Yes he's an Evertonian, who has the best interest of the club, but so am I, and eveyone else on this forum. He's got us two good managers, and he deserves praise for that, but he's never ever injected money into our club. Not necassarily because he doesn't want to, but because he can't and that's why he should say I want Everton to compete and move on to the next level so I'll leave. But he hasn't left. It's been like this for nearly 15 years and longer and he's still here. He's getting away with murder. And that big announcement yesterday was a bloody farce. Great news, I'm chuffed but it just seems like Bill's way of buying more time for himself. "Announce this now so I'll get a bit of restbite until the end of August".

I agree mate, he never says he wants a buyer, just an invester. He wants someone to give him millions to spend on the club, and he'll still be the main man. Then when he is asked publicly about selling, its been a while though, he seems to put a negative spin on things, like "its the best club in the world with the best fans, but we need a new stadium and that will cost £250m and then some money for players so another £100m so we really need someone with billions to spare because millions isnt enough". (obvious exageration) its like hes trying to talk buyers out of it for me. But that could just be me being sceptical.

Also, takeover rumours normally start around season ticket sales time. Didnt need to do it this year after the positivity of last year.

one more thing, if Alan Meyers was still around, would this transfer window have been the same, publicly i mean, and would the press conference have been the same yesterday? No one has mentioned the communications directors input into what happened yesterday.

What you on about man?

I think he's trying to make a prediction. If he does sign Moysey here will only ruin him anyway by playing him down the channels ;)

It's another poster from GOT, trying to play funny buggers....

Ex-ITK DAVIDMOYES has popped up on another forum saying this will be announced this week.
