Bernard

Recommended Posts

If we get Mina and maybe Lindelof on loan that leaves a forward. We will be a serious team. This signing of Bernard could be the turning point. He is that good. He’s the type of player I’ve always wanted. Just hope we don’t get gazumped

I don't ever imagine all 3 of Walcott, Richarlison and Bernard playing at once. As enticing as it seems.

i think it would be

                                   gana

                     bernard      gylfi

        walcott             tosun    richarlison

he's be in an advanced 2 with gylfi in the midfield.  he's right footed but played on the left (like richarlison).

That's how Spain lined up with Juan Mata playing in the midfield trio and having 3 attackers ahead of him.

It'll be Schneiderlin over Gana then in the centre of a midfield trio, unless Gylfi plays there. But that's the position  that is expected to drop in as a make shift defender when the full backs attack.

Pickford

Coleman, Jags, Keane, Baines

Gylfi, Schneiderlin, Bernard

Walcott, Tosun, Richarlison

He could be our David Silva.

That's exactly as I see it and expect him to be used tbh

We've been lacking this kind of player for years since Arteta went and this lad is better imo

Everton, that.

Indeed, would't have it any other way.

Just preparing little man for his years of the Everton roller-coaster, although he wont have to suffer Walter Smith as manager or "Agent Johnson", and hopefully there will be many, many highs.

If this comes off, then it's the proper Everton way of doing transfers. Proper incognito stuff.

Which means we never were in for Mina. So who are we really after?!!!

We are still in for Mina and / or Lascelles, Silva has said our defense basically exists in name only and we need to bring players in this window.

Also, all those ITK’s look like right idiots with this one too. If they were really ITK then they’d have know on about this, it’s kind of the whole point of being ITK

Ignore everything, life as an Everton fan is much better that way. Comment on rumours, by all means, but don’t get worked up over them.

You could see Siggy playing a KDB role too. We still need a Fernandinho though!

5.36m pounds, that's 100k a week.  honestly that's good, Walsh would have put him on 150k a week or more.  also walsh would never have landed him.

Really, really want this to be true but the Debbie Downer in me keeps reminding myself that this time yesterday many of these same sources were adamant Mina was done and dusted and that he'd be announced today. We'll see I guess. Not good for the nervous system all this.

Not really the same sources at all, though. Myers especially is the one I look to... haven’t seen him announce anything prematurely that hasn’t come through. He was the first to cool the Mina rumors yesterday.

Was thinking about this before. Has he got it in him?

To be a shit version... probably. We would desperately need an out and out rock of a DM if them to played ahead of him.

Tbf I think they are largely different sources. I think the Mina one came from one main outlet. I dont think people like Myers or Kirkbride were that big on the Mina deal whereas they are for this.

This is Everton though so I am going to wait until its announced!

You couldn't play Gana holding midfield for 2 reasons he would leave his position because he is attracted to the ball like a magnet no matter where it is on the pitch, also he would be expected to play out from the back and feed the ball to others to get us on the front foot, be he doesn't possess the ability to move the ball with the pace and accuracy required he would give the ball away to much in dangerous areas and put us on the back foot.

It's amazing, we are signing a truly great player and what happens?

Gana debate infects the thread, dear lord its like Haff and Lukaku all over again.

We need a thread control unit :GrammarPolice:

McCarthy would be ideal with siggy and Bernard in front. Gana roams. Morgan let’s players ghost past him. Besic maybe for what he has over McCarthy on the ball he loses in discipline.

I hate to be a party pooper and Bernard would be/is a great signing, but we simply CANNOT afford to play our current back four and a front five of Sig, Bernard, Walcott, Tosun and Richarlison. It would be like Martinez on meth, we score 4, that score 8, three of them in injury time every week. I mean I love open attacking football, but come on...

Teams won’t push forward against us so quickly with such a potent attack though. Defence needs work but from last year we have digne and Coleman to include. Add a solid CB and our starting 11 could be excellent..

Makes it a bit more a game of chess, doesn't It?! Teams would know we were weak at the back for pace but also know we are quick on the attack...what do you do?!!

Well what ever way it goes it’s better than last year where we were weak at the back and toothless uptop.....

It's the counter attack I'd worry about, especially if our full backs were pushing forward.

The Guardian are saying that the other PL teams have baulked at his 200k a week wage demands. Is he worth that much even on a free?

All the reports said he has ahrr s a five year deal for 100k a week don’t they?

Probably papers just annoyed that we have got him, so have to play it down again.
