Michael Keane

Another example of how fans need to be patient before judging a player.

It’s because he doesn’t have bells ringing on his feet when he runs. He is a calm, professional and level headed player that goes about business.

I don’t think people are clicking onto the Keane to Gana to forwards play yet. But if you watch the link up between these players, it’s easy to see they are the backbone of our team.

I’m not the only one who’s noticed their collaboration!

I wanted him here and was absolutely gutted when it looked like he was going to be a failure, but when you look into it there were a lot of mitigating circumstances surrounding that bad form, and I'm so pleased he's come out the other side of it.

This. Though he’s basically been only a bit more than solid and cut out most the errors that were blighting his game, for me he’s been the most improved player since last season.

That’s  not much praise I suppose, but if he can make another step forward next season, and my feeling is that he can, then he’ll really start to bring something to the team AND avoid the need to spend more dough on another starting CB (provided we do sign Zouma).

The main thing is that I no longer get the feeling of impending doom any time he is required to make an intervention in the game.

He also looks like the drummer from New Order, which is a plus.

The lads had a great season- made up for him.

I’d say he’s had a massively improved season if I’m being picky, purely because he’s not reached his potential yet. If he keeps this up next season he’ll be well deserving of that praise.

He’s come on leaps and bounds and is a prime example of how quickly fans can write players off.

Totally. Remember what a disaster on legs Jags was when he arrived? First season and a bit he was terrible. Hopeful Keane can go and go what he’s done.

Holgate, don't know if he's worth £50m but he's shown more in a blue shirt than Keane.

I'm happy to admit I'm wrong on this one... you???

No idea what you're on about. That post is only 3 weeks old.

I've no idea where the love for Keane has come from of late.

From the fact that he is improving.....looks far more assured.

In three weeks?

Even with the opposition being poor of late he still gets me worried. Zouma is the more assured one.

Keane has only had one game were he's shone and that was the win were he put Murray in his pocket. Most games he's not strong enough, almost like he's scared of hurting the opposition.

At first I didn't think he was worth more than £7m.  He is getting far more assured.  Pace is a concern but his focus is much better.

I'd say he's been better than last year but more of a case of him setting the bar so low. I just don't see what he adds more than Holgate.

The people who have already written off Mina need to give him the same backing we gave Keane.  Mina will come good I have no doubts.

The moment he shows some consistency being good rather than crap, I’ll happily hold my hands up. Difference with Keane is that he always looked like he could be a top quality defender. Mina always looks like a liability.

I’ve actually not got such an issue with Mina. I can see him being a bit unorthodox but I don’t mind him. Keane, Zouma, Mina, Holgate - good depth, great ages and good mix of play styles.

He’s just very handsy and awkward with his movements, a bit like Felli was. In midfield it’s less of an issue but in and around our box it scares the crap out of me. I’m not writing him off by any means, he just makes me very nervous anytime he’s near the ball.

I’m the same.  He’s going to have all summer and I hope he’s cemented that starting spot and just bosses it next year.

It’s been on the Everton website today. Loved the bit when he said he went to the ground for the first time in 2016 but it was closed to tours. A sercurity guard approached him and when he heard how far he had travelled he took him around the ground personally. Fucking love this club

Just want to say how well Keane is doing for us. He had a few people on his back but he has become a real leader at the back and his game has improved so much. Well done keano keep it up

I was one and when I did I still believe it was warranted, but your right he has massively improved in the year, you can see the confidence in his play a lot of credit to Silva as well..

I still think he has his limitations and they will be exposed at points within the season.

A lot of the credit should go to Silva who has done a great job at sorting out the defence. Keane still has to adapt though and fight off the demons of his shocking form in the first season.

Just got to see Kosovo’s goal (I missed theirs and our first) and Keane had a right ‘mare!

Made up for it by assisting the equaliser though, so his confidence shouldn’t be too dented.

Speaking of England, that Jadon Sancho is quite the player. I'm also starting to think that Sterling is by far the best player for England. He's come leaps and bounds since moving to City.

A poor ball from Rice dropped him in it initially, either way, good to see him keep his head and got a direct assist and secondary assist.

I thought it was Barkley? I didn’t think it was a bad ball whoever it was, it was just a poor decision from Keane afterwards.

This, just very sloppy. Couldn’t help thinking if he was in a blue shirt he just plays a simple ball back to Pickford. No need for the ball he played.
