New investment (finally)!

Mixed feelings. Padres did get investment but Moores was in it for the money. So it depends on how he intends to make that money. Make the club succesful, increase its value and then sell or simply buy relatively cheap, sell off the best assets (Stones, Lukaku, Barkley) and then move the club forward for a nice tidy sum. Those three could raise close to 150 million alone. Throw in Coleman and McCarthy for an extra 20+ million and 250 million seems cheap. Especially considering what the TV deal is worth. As long as the club stays in the PL it should be worth ~150 million on back of the TV money.

I found that article pretty disingenuous, reads like written by a fan with his tin foil hat on.

Make no mistake, anyone shelling out 200 mill + is going to be a hard nosed businessman with his own interests at heart.

Those MUFC fans with their Newton Heath scarfs protesting the Glazers are looking pretty foolish now.

A few months ago people were slating BK because he out a 250m price tag on the club. He was accused of trying to price out the sale.

Now there are rumours we may be sold for 200m it's too cheap! God I love the drama of this club ;-)

It's a good price if the buyer is out to asset-strip the club and doesn't care what the fans think.

That's only valid if John had previously said 250m was pricing us out of a sale, no?

Wasn't talking about anyone in particular, just that generally there seemed a lot of anger that the price was so high.

Now all of a sudden it's too low.

The club can't win either way.

That's even if there is any truth in any of this.

OK so what makes 250 too expensive?

Everyone has been assuming the new owners would be interested in developing the club. That would include building a stadium (200 million+) and giving some money to the manager. Suddenly you are looking at over 500 million. It's a much bigger risk for any buyer.

Plus no-one would have thought the three of them would be worth around 150 million half a year ago.

they are investment people and the basics of investment is develop and flip. so yes they would want to build the new stadium to increase the club value and ad revenue. read the articles on the padres, they did the same thing with them. no reason to believe they wouldn't with us.
