Cornish Steve
They're a solid and improving team, and their confidence will be high. It seems we're playing a number of teams right now that are hitting form. But, our players must be cock-a-hoop after today's win, and we rested a couple of important player. I'm expecting a home win. Elston Gunnn
No rest, heavy pitch at Newcastle, too bad it's probably a week too soon for Jagielka and Oviedo. Roberto implied that Naismith might be ready by Monday. Doesn't Lukaku need a rest? Barry, too? Maybe -- Howard Coleman Stones Funes Mori Galloway Gibson Besic Deulofeu Osman Kone Naismith Subs from Lukaku, Mirallas, Barkley, Cleverley, Baines
Deacs
Not sure we can afford to leave Lukaku out, the form he's in and I would probably stick with Mirallas on the left. Bring Del back for sure and maybe give Barry a rest like you said, two games in two days may well be too much for him.
Romey 1878
I reckon Kev has earned another start myself. He didn't tear up trees but he did put in a decent showing, and he hasn't played all that often lately so really doesn't need a rest. Btay
Big game. We did look tired towards the end there. I think Stoke played a strong team yesterday as well. But we've played on a heavy pitch which definitely doesn't help.
Elston Gunnn
Yes, Mirallas almost scored early, and created at least one other opportunity for himself. My lineup was more about tiredness, so if Mirallas can recover so quickly, absolutely he deserves another start. So from my set of starters, replace Osman with Mirallas. Or remove Naismith, if he can't go. Second half subs. At 45 minutes, if we're behind or tied and playing without energy, Lukaku in for sure. I suspect Lukaku will start, but this seems an ideal moment -- in a long season with 2 League Cup matches in January -- to give him a little rest and play him in the second half, if necessary. I just assume there will be lots of tired legs second half. For Stoke players, too.
markjazzbassist
Robles Coleman stones Mori baines Clev Barry Gerry Ross mirallas Lukaku Subs - besic Lennon and someone else. Thought besic for Ross was a nice switch, get besic to play the acm and send those silky passes.
HKR toffee
Got to backup the Newcastle win with another 3 points against stoke definitely think Rom could do with a rest so I personally would bring him after after a hour and put none or naismith (if fit )on in his place. Finn balor
Open game with two attacking teams however they are much tighter at the back than us and have a top top keeper. We keep hold of anautovic and bojan we should be ok. Keep the same team and change it round against Spurs. 2-1 and we might even get a penalty
MC11
Still a very fragile side... Boss going forward with a missing cutting edge. The problem is hard to pin point.

Thought besic for Ross was a nice switch, get besic to play the acm and send those silky passes. Much as I'd prefer to see Robles, we all know that Howard will start in goal. If McCarthy is fit, I'd like to see him play, with Cleverley moving forward to replace Barkley. Kone will start this time over Mirallas. If Naismith plays, he'll be a sub once we're ahead. We didn't look all that balanced against Newcastle! Mirralas certainly didn't stay wide. Chach
Romey 1878
We didn't look all that balanced against Newcastle! Mirralas certainly didn't stay wide. He did early on when we were on top. As we drifted out of the game he drifted inside in search of the ball. I'm not bothered who the wingers are, I just want two real ones. I wouldn't mind seeing Kone coming in for Barkley tbh. Have some real support up there for Rom.
Guest rusty747
I think Baines was playing left wing when Mirallas drifted inside as he wasn't needed too much at left back. But I do agreee - we need a balanced attacking midfield three. Gerry, Ross and Kev for me with Rom up front.

Very true, we need to put a run together and playing Lukaku increases our chances of that happening. He has to start.
Guest rusty747
This is a game which could see us build some important momentum for some high stakes games that are coming up. Play our strongest team and deal with any injuries or suspensions as they arise.
Newty82
I wouldn't change too much today, minimal, if anything...some of these line ups are crazy! Stoke are doing well and suggesting it is wise to put in 4 or 5 players who have hardly had any game time, in key positions, is crazy. And then Martinez gets criticised by you guys!!! It's going to be tough today. 2 games in 3 games yes, same for Stoke though. These lads can handle it. Top athletes remember. Then they have a 5/6 day rest. Going to be a tough grind but we should be able to narrowly do it.
nyblue23
Howard, Coleman, Galloway, Stones, Mori, Barry, McCarthy, Deulofeu, Barkley, Kone, Lukaku. Looks like RM didn't learn much after all.
milesey05
So fucked off with our line up. Plays 2 wingers away and tightens it up at home? Kone is fucking shite so he best actually do something today. Edited December 28, 2015 by milesey05
Newty82
Cue Kone hattrick! Not a bad line up. Feel a bit for Mirallas. On the plus side both Kone and Geri will, or should, be feeling fresh.
milesey05
Mirallas and Lennon not on the bench. Our choices to come on and make an impact are not the best. So pissed off right now.

Elston Gunnn
Surprised to see Barry starting after heavy pitch and little recovery time. Maybe he's in super condition. Though both Barry and Martinez acknowledged late last season that Barry had played too many matches. Seems an odd decision, so I'll be watching Barry's energy, especially second half. If he falters, Gibson or Besic will get a chance. I'm glad Galloway starts. Baines is clearly our LB, but he may not yet be in shape to play 2 games so quickly. A little surprised that neither Mirallas nor Lennon is on bench. Maybe we'll see both Naismith and Cleverley in second half. Excited to see 2 matches in quick succession. Hope Stoke tires more than we do.
