Anyone else following this? The Iceland PM has already resigned over his overshore money, Putin has around 2 billion siphoned through Panama and many other countries have been outed as well. His late father most certainly was involved, so did he he inherit (partially) cash that was suspect? holystove Posted April 6, 2016 Report Share Posted April 6, 2016 It is not illegal to own an offshore company, or to "hide" money in it. At most, it could be described as unethical. (unless national law requires you to declare all funds you have access to in other countries). The fault lies with Panama allowing these fake coorporation to be created and having bank secrecy laws. The reason why property prices are so high in London is that many are owned by (foreign) companies who do not have to declare details of the ultimate owner. Shady money laundering too.
