Hafnia
I don't think it helped having his selection publically questioned by an ex goalkeeper in their press. Howard was making mistakes once every 3 games - so at this moment he's not done too bad on the whole.

Romey 1878
Bit harsh mate he''s done ok up to now. Harsh would be to say I think he's absolutely shite and should go and be a partner in crime to Niasse.

I'd have more sympathy if he were a younger keeper trying to hold is spot in the national team but realistically he can only have a year or 2 at that level
Romey 1878
I must have imagined him being flat-footed for Palace's equaliser. I'm not questioning that he's had a good start with us, of course he has, and I'm pleased about that. But there's a reason he was brought in as a number 2 - and that is because these sorts of mistakes are what his career is littered with, and that was my concern when we signed him. He's a good cover goalkeeper but we really need to be on the lookout for a number 1.
Hafnia
he's a 7/10 goalkeeper.... Howard was a 5/10 keeper at the end and Robles is probably 6/10.... to get that 8+ keeper will take a good bit of scouting and a fair bit of £££. I'm pleased we got him - solid. Every single keeper makes mistakes.
StevO
I like him, but we should have got Hart. Romey 1878 and MC11

Hafnia
Tremendous today. Especially on the back of mistake. That said - a penalty is a no lose situation for the keeper and he took full advantage. To make two saves from the spot is a rarity and overall his game was very very good. Pleased with the lad. StevO
In that situation, yep. My previous MOTM comments never even dreamt he could save two pens in a match. Unless the last minute winner is a real shocker. Maybe a miss kick five yards to Aguero who just rolls it in the net. Or he catches the ball but falls over the line. Maybe not then. Bill
I said a couple of weeks ago that a defender can be MOTM even though the team lost, several people said the opposite.
Matt
I said a couple of weeks ago that a defender can be MOTM even though the team lost, several people said the opposite.which game was that? And was that defender directly responsible for blocking 2 certain goals?
Finn balor
not just the penno saves that one at the end tipped onto the post was a worldly
Bill
Doesn't matter what scenario you link to it Matt, if a player plays well enough to be MOTM he should be given the MOTM, wether the team wins or loses.
MikeO
Doesn't matter what scenario you link to it Matt, if a player plays well enough to be MOTM he should be given the MOTM, wether the team wins or loses. Goes without saying for me, not sure how/why it's even under discussion. Striker gets a hat-trick and we lose 4-3 he's going to take it (probably), We lose 4-3 when it'd have been 8-3 without a certain defender/keeper he takes it. We win 1-0 when the defence is under the cosh for 89mins and we score from a deflected shot a defender/keeper likely to have it, win 1-0 when we're all over a parked bus the midfielder/striker who finds the key takes it. Result has no bearing on it imo, it's down to who's the best man on the pitch.

Well that's how I've always voted. I know Sky tend to give it to the winning team but if we had lost 1-0 yesterday surely our Keeper would still have taken the motm award? Romey 1878
Unlikely to get MOTM this week I think . Today is exactly why I don't want him to be our number one GK. He makes basic errors like that too often to be more than a back-up keeper for me.
