nyblue23
Check out this video on YouTube: Does the commentater say he is better then john stones at the end or am I making that up?? "Every bit as good if not better for me." Cool, bro.
codders78
He can play no doubt about that. I think he would be an excellent addition and a good replacement if Stones does go. He is ready for that step up and whilst he has the capacity for a mistake or two he will learn and is a work in progress.
EFC-Paul
I agree he's pretty much style wise as close as you'll get to John ability wise maybe not but that's a relatively unknown until he plays in this league and has a chance to settle in I'd be happy to have him here if the price is right

Stones is young enough to adapt, I'm not sure Virgil is. Could surprise me but looks overhyped and frequently exposed in europe.

He does but players of that ilk tend to as Stones did often and still does at times, I'd like to think he could adapt and cut some of the negatives out of his game but as said its an unknown but its the kind of risk you take with these kind of players who like to play out from the back There will be other options (I hope!) but out of the names we've been linked with he's the one I'd prefer personally, maybe if Evans went on the cheap Dijk and Evans as back up wouldn't be to bad imo
seve
I would still like us to be after this guy, Southampton seem to have a clear run I think we are missing a trick here.
scouse
I agree crusty would provide healthy competition for Jags and Stones, him or Evans as they wouldn't need time to adjust settle in if needed..
Romey 1878
With Stones staying and Mori hopefully signing we won't be after him any more. Give it up.
Guest rusty747
May be right but Celtic have just taken Tyler Blackett on loan from Man U so it looks like Virgil is going somewhere.

scouse
we had 4 left backs at the start of the season 50% injured and 25% out on loan and the other 25% two serious injuries in the last 2 seasons, we need a fourth CB Edited August 31, 2015 by scouse

Hafnia
weren't we linked with him a year or so ago?... pity we didn't get him. Probably have the old thread somewhere.

Finn balor
He won't sign for us now but we should have got him in from Celtic. £40 mill even I'd go for him but city, arsenal just in our league will be in for him
gethinO
He's a tank. Excellent on the ball, quick, strong and good in the air. Agree with Fin - his next club will be a Champions League club.
Guest rusty747
To put it bluntly, we are not good enough to attract a player of his calibre.
pete0
I'd rather Holgate got a game. Fonte was the rock at the back for Soton.
Guest rusty747
I would be happy for Holgate to get a game too but we need to establish our best keeper and back four and we seem to be further away from that now than at the start of the season. Not entirely Koeman's fault as players that should have performed, haven't. I can see this season going into a terminal decline and even flirting with relegation if we can't start putting a lot of bad things right. dlblue
Apparantly has a great relationship with Koeman and we stood no chance of signing him last year. Im hopefull this will play a part in us signing him in Jan, i wouldnt be surprised if he was Koemans number 1 target and was asked to stay away from him in the summer. He would be great for us, proved himself in the Prem now, just what we need.
