badaids
Surely we have a better corner taker than Barkley? Baines? Barkley should be floating around the box anyway ready to pounce. What a save there by Robles. Magnificent salmon leap.
Shukes
Loving this. Mirralas is shooting on site too, good to see.
markjazzbassist
Mirallas just keeps floating around the box he needs to make penetrating runs to create space and make himself available to score. Instead he's wasted

badaids
We're starting to retain possession longer and pressure, but again as usual completely toothless around the box. Southampton look well organised too, and I can't escape the feeling of impending doom that has been such a standard feature of being a toffee the last 3 years. markjazzbassist
hes working hard though, making himself available all the time. I agree but in the final third he dithers. He needs to make the run so baines can link with Davies or pass to kev or make a run himself. Instead it's a clog and baines passes back to mori every time
badaids
Loving Davies, even though his hair is stuck in some kind of 1993 final days of acid house timewarp.
Palfy
Sounds like we're firing on all cylinders, McNally reckons saint's are defending well

Hafnia
Again we lose the ball in the final 3rd and immediately are facing a shot at our goal. This is something ive been highlighting alot. Albeit as a criticism of lukaku its very damaging.

chalkpie
I think Moshiri and Kenwright should get topless to get the supporters fired up. Just a thought.
Matt
Again we lose the ball in the final 3rd and immediately are facing a shot at our goal.weve got so many bodies committed but no one with the final ball, it's been the same for years which is why we need that AMC ala Silva/Mata
markjazzbassist
Good first half, only real threat was the offside hand ball so no too worried. We dominated in attack and Ross and Davies look great today. Just need to get a goal and I think it will really open up. Forster is such a good keeper
London Blue
Well, we have played well enough but not created enough clear cut chances. I think Gana has been quite error prone, maybe he is already thinking of ACON. If we keep this up and have a bit more creativity, composure or luck up front we will be fine. Maybe bring Valencia on at some point for his pace and movement.
Palfy
Lukaku loses the ball because his first touch is poor and his lay offs are even worse. Barkley tends to get caught in 2 minds often and loses the ball. Our wingers have a fantastic habit of running into a defenders legs. I don't know what game some fans are watching but this is not good enough. It's better than Hull, which was a low point, but we are still making stupid mistakes and trying to force the ball forward. I didn't mind the passing around. The problem was and still is that it amount to nothing. It would be better to blast a shot into row z than get caught on the hop like we do. Doesn't sound good, I was hoping for good things today sounds like another game that could split opinions, let's pray for storming 2nd half. badaids
True that Forster has just batted away everything like a golem.
Newty82
Still need those attacking wide men that give us that bit more than what we have now. I honestly think that's all this team needs in the short term. It's a tidy enough performance. Soton look well organised at the back and dangerous on the counter. We are solid enough too. Davies giving us that energy that we need in the middle, like McCarthy did/does. Barkley certainly plays a lot better with the extra energy behind him. We just need to keep plugging away. The goal will come.
Bailey
Just seen some of the highlights from.the first half and it looks as though they had the best chance with Rodriguez. We look to have had a few half chances though and Barkley is again involved in everything.
chalkpie
No incisive attacks or runs for me. It's lob it in instead of making an informed set of passes. I think Ross's pass to keV was the closest chance we've had. Our attacking looks weaker than the Martinez era.
markjazzbassist
First sub would be mirallas off, he now adds nothing in attack for me. Even Lennon has made some runs and link up and dashed to the byline. Kev one shot soars over the goal about all he's done in attack. Put Valencia on
Elston Gunnn
For those unable to watch the match, I generally agree with TallPaul1878's several comments mostly critical of our play. Anything could happen, but we are poor in the final third of the pitch, and Southampton looked dangerous 3 times on the counter. On his shot near end of half, Mirallas missed a golden opportunity to cross it in to Lukaku, who was clear of defenders, and onside.
